Motorbike racer and TV presenter Guy Martin has denied having a fake Irish driving licence.
Mr Martin, 37, appeared at Lincoln Crown Court earlier and pleaded not guilty to two charges.
He is charged with possession of a driving licence with intent to deceive and making a false statement by claiming he had an Irish licence.
Mr Martin, of Barnetby, Lincolnshire, was granted unconditional bail ahead of a trial on 1 July 2019.

He denied possession of a document with intent to deceive between 4 December 2017 and 15 May relating to “a document so closely resembling an Irish driving licence as to be calculated to deceive”.
Mr Martin also denied making a false statement between 1 March and 15 May 2018 claiming he was the holder of an Irish driving licence for the purpose of obtaining a UK licence.
He tried to get a class 1 licence on the sly. And he’s got caught. I honestly cannot think what his defence will be - unless he is going to claim that he really did pass a test over there.
What’s odd - is he was a HGV mechanic. I might be showing my naivity here, but I sort of assumed you’d need to have a class 1 licence to work on them and then test them after.
way i read it he sent in a Fake irish licence to dvla to get a few additions added onto his UK licence. but they saw its a fake now hes up in court in sh/t over it. At first i really liked his tv stuff but as time went on i couldnt stand watching him. cant put my finger on why. its the same with cliff richard, tom jones and that oily bloke who does up homes yeh right , nick knowles something isnt right with each of em either

Nope you don’t need a licence to work on them at all you can be just a mechanic/fitter maybe an advantage

Maybe because he has many more talents than average joe or maybe because you believe al the crap you read in the news?

They both have big respect for each other and only a fool would try to compare them. JM would not attempt a lot of what GM has done.

I used to race against Guys brother Stuart at the New Era club and have known both Stuart and Guy for a number of years. Guy Martin likes to push boundaries and is a wind up merchant. It’s common knowledge that Guy had an Irish road race licence as opposed to an ACU one due to a well publicised spat with Stuart Higgs the BSB race director. Now I could be wrong (it has happened once before ) but I think this whole thing will turn out to be a storm in a teacup and it’ll transpire that an over zealous cop has heard the words “Irish licence” second hand and has jumped to the wrong conclusion.

I think it’s unlikely to be trivial and easily explained away if it’s going to Crown Court. I thought he had tried to use an Irish licence to get HGV entitlement added to a UK one and the DVLA suspect it’s forged. I would guess he probably had C and was trying to add C+E or something but all seems a bit weird given where he works I’d have thought he could have just borrowed a unit and trailer for a morning and gone and done the test.
He would have been better off just driving and risking getting done for not having the licence at all it’s the forgery/fraud element that’s taken very seriously and if the jury don’t take his side I’d be very surprised if he got away without a custodial sentence even if short.
