Poor downtrodden, overworked, underpaid lorry drivers couldn’t afford cameras. Let alone get themselves into a “Whiskey-induced haze” on their State Pension. Now we’ve got rid of Smiley Dave and I’ll- have -another -three -jobs Osborne maybe us under priviledged plebs can get our hands on some of the millions squirelled away by those who abuse their positions to further their own interests.
But I’m not holding my breath!

Hi all,

Great photo Pete, Defo a Liverpool trade plate, But no engine badge, Plus its got a very small silencer box, Regards Larry.
Brian, that’s brilliant. I’d say its Dennis on the left, ROF in the centre and Larry on the right. There’s a shadow in the background, that must be Harry and Dave the Renegade is looking down from above, scolding them all for being doubter’s.

It appears that without photographic evidence these vehicles could never have existed, I wonder if the battles of Hastings, Trafalgar or Waterloo really took place as there are no photo’s of those either?
Pete.

Hiya,
Ah’ but Pete, there was no cameras during those era’s, and I think
just about everybody and their Granddad had a camera during the
production run of the Big J and strange how the only arse end shot
of the elusive eight potter is of an admitted hybrid and even the
plumbing on the rear of that is certainly not factory original so
that one doesn’t even get a look in and is doubtful if it ever was a
workhorse in it’s current format.
thanks harry, long retired.

Were you a fan of the Big J Harry in any format , obviously not the 240 Gardner?
To be fair Bewick has asked for proof beyond reasonable doubt. While it’s been proved on the balance of probabilities that they actually did build some but nothing like as many as ■■■■■■■ engined ones.Which at best just proves beyond doubt that the choice between 6 cylinder ■■■■■■■ v 8 cylinder Gardner was a no brainer.

Hiya,
Yes CF, I did rather like the Big Js the ones I drove were engined with either
■■■■■■■ or Rolls Royce I found them totally reliable and were equal to the
job at the time and me not being a cab cowboy wasn’t bothered about them
being only day cabs having had sleepers and never using them other than for
a midday kip when I’d gotten ahead of myself, I was a park up and ■■■■ off
driver preferring to go into digs.
thanks harry, long retired.

The grille doesn’t benefit from the extension that was required to accommodate some of the different engine options, including the 240 Percy.

Not sure that I’d want to be placed between those two- they’re NORTHERNERS and therefore genetically programmed to disbelieve anything claimed by those South of Birmingham. I’m sending young Lurpak on a recce in consideration of doing a swop after the Scottish vote: Any two Northern counties in return for a decent part of Scotland. Preferably the bits where the whiskey’s distilled and the oil pipeline comes ashore. I’m looking forward to seeing Bewick and Larry trundling up the A9 in a Pickford’s van containing the furniture, closely followed by twenty Securicor vans with their private pensions!
