Well someone has done a nice job on it, question is did it roll out of Park lane like that when it was new

They all came out of there when they were new… :unamused:

Aye but not necessarily with that engine !! Cheers Bewick.

Sadly people, this is only a recreation of those rare beasts…

This until recently had a 6LXB installed…
The 8LXB came from a poorly C series ERF

The hunt goes on…

Sorry Dennis seen today at leyland

Your a good mate Jamie    What was it’s reg no ? needs a bit more looking into this before I can concede as it may actually be a transplanted 240 which won’t count. Some [zb] could just be on the wind up because of all the banter over the years and has decided to cobble one to-gether eh! Cheers Dennis.

+1 :smiling_imp:

robert1952:
That looks like quite a big, sticky-out engine! Robert

Some say it had a turbo ■■■■■■■ in it before the swap.Which would be along similar lines of someone putting an old 1940’s straight 8 Buick engine into an AC Cobra. :open_mouth: :smiling_imp:

Don’t shoot the messenger Dennis i was only passing on photographic images(.looked kosher to me though) )cheers jamie

Carryfast:
Assuming that really is a Big J with an 8LXB in it there’s no actual proof that it isn’t a home built special or aftermarket modified job using an engine transplant at whatever point in time after it left the factory.Although maybe confirmation of matching engine and chassis numbers at the time of original registration might prove the case at least on the balance of probabilities.

Although the biggest shock and surprise in that case would be why would anyone want to put that in the thing instead of a turbocharged ■■■■■■■■ :smiling_imp:

Even The Great Man from Leatherhead supports our argument that there never was a Big J built with an 8LXB engine ! I never said he was a [ZB] :unamused:   he does talk sense sometimes, well not very often but in the case of a Big J with 8LXB engine he is 101% correct so lets have some ID plates posted. Cheers Bewick.

it didn’t come out of the factory did it ■■?
john

Hiya,
Like I’ve said on several occasions plenty of 6 pot "Percy’s were produced and
rolled off the premises but never an 8 potter any in existence are away from
the factory “specials” the 6 potters were in my opinion crap and not a patch
on the ■■■■■■■ and Roller engined jobbies.
thanks harry, long retired.

As far as I know, the Guy records would disagree with you …

Unless you have seen different records to the people quoted on here?

M A Evans had a Guy Big J which was a genuine factory built one, out of forty which were made. Smiths of Maddiston had them as their former drivers have stated. But it ain’t no big deal.
