Go back to the V8 thread and read what people wrote from conversations with the people involved at Southall . If you spend so much time on google that thread will save you time so you don’t have to keep going back and forth. You said the 760 was just a bus engine and the stroke was too short make your mind up or try to remember what rubbish you have previously written.
Look at a picture of the 8LXB
Carryfast, I created a thread exclusively for you and your bs, crackpot theories, messages from your alternative world, demonstration of your superior googling skills, etc., etc..
Please use this thread Black is white, A frame trailers, blah, blah, blah rather than derailing and otherwise spoiling threads on which the adults are conversing.
I said a ‘development’ of the 760.
Let’s say using the bore of the 691 and a redesigned crankcase to allow for a 158 mm stroke. We know it’s going to be used to pull a 30t truck not a bus or a 4 wheeler local delivery van.So that Ergo cab ain’t going to work either.
Could also have offered a larger option using the 760 bore.
Instead of which nah let’s make a totally useless V8 to fit under the low Ergo local delivery wagon cab instead.
Which just leaves the question of the available length between the radiator and the drive axle input flange if we’re going to shoehorn an 8LXB and 9 speed Fuller into a BigJ tractor unit.
Probably not easy but maybe worth it.
I seem to remember the description clearly stating the problem of the ( right hand ? ) bank being fed by the already heated water from the ( left hand ? ) bank ?.Because it didn’t have separate coolant passages for both banks from the water pump ?.
Yes an inline engine has a similar issue for cylinders furthest from the water pump but not the ‘same’.
Why is this topic still running
Blame “Alf McCarthy” - my nickname for him on the Busy Mr Trump thread as his posts are what you would expect from Alf Garnett and Senator Joe McCarthy.
You’re on the wrong thread you want to be on the AEC V8 thread and then all these ridiculous scenarios you keep inventing can be answered by looking back through the posts. The AEC V8 wasn’t designed to be in a lorry they weren’t told what it was going to be used for totally in the dark. Go back and read what happened it’s all there posted by people who actually knew what was going on not someone wanting to cause trouble nearly 60 years later on
Don’t waste the typing time Ramone, he think his ludicrous fantasies are fact.
I agree. I have given up responding to his rants (although he responds to mine) as It’s like playing a pigeon at chess.
My advice is somewhat pot and kettle.
I push him for answers when he talks bs, when he’s backed into a corner and proven wrong, his stock reply is “It’s perfectly understandable” that he got it wrong. A week later he’s arguing the same point.
Look how many fellows described to him how to use a 15speed RoadRanger, he still doesn’t know the difference between a range change and splitter.
Chess play-off, Carryfast V Pigeon, what odds am I offered?
Not seen the 15 speed Fuller thread i only got to 13 speed 8 over 4 .Where do the other 2 gears come from and the 18 speed? Are the 18s 8 over 8 with 2 crawlers?
I just got fed up with him veering from one side to the other. He fires into subjects based on the first searches that come up on Google and then tries to double down when you point out the faults in his argument. Then he introduces something else in the same sentence. I wonder at times if English is his first language.
Fair play to anyone that want’s to engage with him but it’s not for me - I have my sanity to protect. A plus point is that I’m guessing that it really annoys him that I don’t respond to any of his posts even when he’s replying to some of mine.
Aaaah, so you’re to blame for inflicting him on us. I wish I could make my mind about him, half the time I love his bizarre ramblings, the rest of the time I don’t know what the hell he’s rambling about. ( thinking about it I suspect HE hasn’t a clue what he’s on about)
No offence CF matey, as Dick Emery used to say…“Oooh you are awful, but I like you”
Yes. Or put another way: four over four with 2 crawlers and splitters on everything. See diagram below.
Yeah like a ZF 16 speed (ooops can i mention synchro boxes) same layout but with 2 crawlers and the 15 is a 13 with 2 crawlers i guess
Please stop terrifying an old man with diagrams like that. An old man used to 6 speed DB’s and 9 speed Fullers.
And if you post a Foden 12 speed diagram …I’ll put a curse on you.
I think I’ve got one but IIRC it’s in the roof.
