I hope John Killibeck is on this thread… if the master can get a good cab he’ll have one built for us
in a few months… infact i know where theres a big J half restored it just needs the 6 pot swapping
for the 8pot and that one has already got a 240 badge on the grill… you,ve all seen that one.

hiya,
Howay now John, you know the rules “as manufactured” by Guy Motors, but John Killingbeck would be the man to do a reproduction and it would be a flyer too i’ve driven a 150 Percy engined Atki when employed there in the mid 60s and it could out perform most of the 180s of the day he was only young then but he sure knew his stuff i should imagine he would not have been very friendly with the Gardner boffins most likely that man could have taught them a thing or two.
thanks harry long retired.

It’s in good order for a resoration project! want’s a flat putting on the chassis,I can re-call Allisons of Dundee running Big J 8 wheelers out of Colvilles Steel. Used to fly past them with the Octopus and trailer and we had half as much weight on again than the Guy’s,but they were nice motors all the same! Dennis.

No way!
Not another flatbed lorry!
This one needs a bulk body putting back on -
The cab is fubar’d - no floor and the whole thing wobbles when you shake it…
Put a 24 ft wood/ali flat on the old girl!! I’d even offer to sheet and rope the “load” for you!! Cheers Dennis.

hiya,
John have’nt lived in the Blackburn area since 1972 so have’nt a clue what Mr K is doing these days i think his dad old Robbie who was actually the main man when i was there would have left the family well enough off without young John needing to get the toolbox out anymore but it’s been a long time since i had any dealings with so have’nt a clue what he’s doing now if he’s any sense he’ll be sitting in a warm climate drinking a big G and T must be retiring age by now not many people have worked as hard as that lad and he deserves a long retirement.
thanks harry long retired.
theres some photos on one of the sites flickr or photobucket of it complete with bulk tipper i think with a blower

Iv’e deployed some stingers as well,Iv’e got to take a close look at this Big J!! But I think I will have to take a “spiritulist” with me as this motor is defo a figment of the imagination and I would need “Mystic Meg” to describe it to me!! Cheers Dennis.
Is Mystic Meg from your neck of the woods Dennis, did you go to school with her ?
Mystic Meg (born Margaret Anne Lake on 27 July 1952 in Accrington, Lancashire, too young to be in school with you Dennis, perhap’s her Mum…
