Guess the weight of the cake

Blue Estate has gone straight for the bonus point, guess the location.

I’m not in the hunt for that one.

Bridge 8 A429 Corston, Malmesbury 14.0

Change in road height may make this harder to judge. Last time I recall this being hit, I think it was a high cube box.

I’ve had a guess as well.

It is possible on the brick built bridges to get a good estimate by counting up the number of courses. A house or engineering brick plus a layer of mortar is about 3".
But I just did it by eye.

@franglais if you were worried about the height im assuming you would use the signs in reality rather than guess.

bridge 8 for example looks to have quite a dip and a sharp rise and camber on the far side.

You’re obviously using a bigger monitor than my tablet. :face_with_monocle:

do we get double points if we can post a pic of the bridge with our car in the background

No, but you can if you photograph your truck wedged under it.

You may have misguidedly thought I had devised a fair and robust scoring system to identify a clear winner, perhaps even with a suitable prize at the end, alas not.

i just recognized one of the bridges having driven under it twice a night for 6 months. and failed my first test because of it

Crude easter egg included for Cooper1203.

You might clear the leading edge, can you make it all the way out unscathed?

Pure estimates! I have no idea where any of the bridges are.
I’ll get a photo of a local one tomorrow and post it here, but I have no idea how to include a poll..

Man hat took me far too long to work that one out

I had to find it today, just click the gear icon on the far right of the tool buttons in the edit box as you type a message, choose Build poll, Add as many options as you like.

There is one in Guildford that contributed to my downfall on my first test, one of 3 undue hesitations. It’s hard for me to find though as I don’t know the area too well and it’s a bit of a back street, so haven’t managed to add it to the list!

A36 at Wilton.

Bridge 11 A322, Brookwood 13’9

Fun fact - the railway above served the cemetery off to the left and behind, as you look at this pic.

To ease the pressure on burying the dead in London, this cemetery was created and train services would bring those to be buried from a special station near Waterloo. It would have carriages dedicated to this task, along with other regualar cars for passengers that were alive and well. I could imagine the porters earned their money loading that train up and off at the other end. This may be another example of CF’s assertion that freight is too often moved to rails at the cost of honest hard working lorry (horse and carriage) drivers.

I’m going from Wikipedia here, so apologies if this isn’t correct, but the cemetery was conceived in 1849, and by 1854 was the largest cemetery in the world. That sounds like a lot of train services. It no longer holds that accolade.
