This vehicle plate shows a ‘Gross Weight’ of 18t and a ‘Train Weight’ of 21.5t
For the purposes of entering vehicle weight into my truck sat nav which should I use.

Hi SMB,
You’d normally enter 18t when running solo.
‘Train weight’ is the maximum all-up weight that’s allowed for that vehicle when it’s towing a trailer.

Ahh all becomes clear.
I’m class 2 so no trailer shenanigans here.
Train weight is when you have a trailer attached. I’m usually pretty good with the old google searches but could not find an answer for this. God bless trucknet, cheers diesel dave 
Very low GTW of 21500 !!
GVW 18000 = max the vehicle cab be when fully laden
GTW 21500 = max the actual weight of the vehicle and trailer can be when loaded
Example -
Vehicle
GTW 18000
Empty 8000
Trailer
MAM 5000
Empty 1000
Load vehicle with 8000 making it actual weight of 16000
Load trailer with 4000 making it actual weight of 5000
Total GTW = 21000
The only reason the above example could not be done is if the manufacturer has stated a maximum towing capacity
