I was driving down the M5 heading south at just gone 6am thismorning. The wind was really bad in places & at one point I was hit by a gust of wind & I have to be honest I almost crapped myself . I’ve been driving artics for just over 2yrs & for the first time i thought i was gonna be blown over. My first reaction was to take foot off the accelerator & pray
Up quite away in front was another truck. One minute it was upright the next it was on its side. I hit the breaks & put hazards on & all the traffic came to an abrupt stop. Guy must of ■■■■ himself A few trucks stopped including another Gregory’s truck & the driver seemed alright.
2 lanes were closed & as far as i no remained closed for some time.
One thing that makes me wonder in amazement in the wind is when you are literally being blown across lanes and people in cars are trying to overtake and flashing lights bipping horns at you…
what is the best thing to do if you feel you are going to be blown over (apart from hang on for dear life). is there anything you can do to try to stop it going over or is it just a case of “ok im going over, time for the well boss phone call!”
