Although in US Land, turkey is more traditional at Thanksgiving.
Some years ago my sister was visiting the States for Xmas and took over a jar of Mincemeat. Now, any mention of carrying ‘Meat’ to a U.S. Customs official would normally have one branded as an Eco-terrorist hell bent on ruining their agricultural economy. 
However, the individual involved had U.K. parents in law and was aware of the constituent ingredients.
