Graffiti or Art.......

Normally I have no time for the scumbags who deface bridge supports and walls with their “tags” etc. but there is a small building in a field near the Cambridge services on the A14 where some of the artwork on the wall is fantastic.

Currently it has the words “THE FUTURE” done out in graduated yellow to orange with silver starbursts over it. It must have taken hours to do and is the latest in a series of artworks, all done to the highest standard.

So, is it art or just vandalism. . . . .

Know the one you mean. Always some good looking art in there. Stuff like that I don’t mind as much, don’t think anyone likes the typical yob graffiti though.

Another one I always chuckle at when I pass it is that bridge with VOTE FOR PIES sprayed on it.

Not this one is it ? :grimacing:

art, art and art :grimacing:

Going north bound out of Bristol on the M32, have a look at the paint job on the house on the left .

I’ve always wondered what the ■■■■ that " Vote Pies" message is all about on that bridge around the M25 clockwise in between the M40 and M1 junctions.
I’m sure there is a bridge somewhere with the message " Voted Pies" written on it
Talking about Graffiti or art take a look at Banksy, once a scourge on the community with what he did but then people came around to the ideas that his work was actually thought provoking and great art. Even more so if he had actually “tagged” their property because of the value it put on their house/workplace as his pieces are one of a kind and go for ■■■■ loads of money.
People have even gone ballistic and wanted police to get involved if one of his pieces of street art has been taken from their community because of the intrest from the media/general public it brings.

The other one on the M25 by the M40 split reads ‘give peas a chance:slight_smile:

As you drive from the M62 into Halifax on the A629 there’s a place on the right by the traffic lights that has some brilliant art work on it. I always try to have a look on the way in.

Theres that old Little Chef place on the A1 near the A47 turn off thats covered in graffiti. Not long ago they redid the outside, it wasn’t long before it was tagged up again.

The pies bridge always makes me chuckle.

No idea what its all about, who cares.

Some good ones in Glasgow

That one with the Robin and the man is amazing. It’s incredible to think sometimes how creative some people can be. It must of taken endless hours, also how do you do that and don’t get caught ?

Maybe that some of these large pieces are commisioned or sanctioned by the local authorities to brighten up an otherwise dull area.

Newmarket rd in Cambridge used to have a series of street art paintings along a disused building (at the east rd end). It was done by an outfit called the Blight society, or something like that. Some amazing pictures, similar to the Glasgow ones above. Personally I like them, they brighten up the day. I think they’re completely different from some misspelt ‘■■■■ the pigs’ sort of rubbish.

Hopefully not many of you would see these, unless you’re walking but from Grays in Essex up to near the bridge the whole of the river defences wall is covered by some very good pieces of artwork.
