Hiya
Spotted this on another forum.
If you’re travelling through Wales near the Brecon Beacons on the a40 for a fortnight at the beginning of June you will probably not be able to rely on your SatNav for a while.
The military are conducting active jamming of GPS signals in that area for about a 5km range of the following location. If you put this into GoogleMaps it should take you there
N52° 00.881’ W003° 38.518’
Source: Southgate Amateur Radio Club and for further information there is an email link to contact Ofcom as well…
Looks like they are making sure squaddies can read a map
It is hoped nobody has an accident and requires an ambulance, they seem to blame satnav for most cockups.
On another topic I read that schools were being forced to stop mobile phone use during school times, wouldn’t it be easy to fit a jammer in all schools?

Unfortunately, the powers that be are blaming it on a health issue, to be honest the health issue is probably caused by some thieving scumbags nicking little Rodneys iPhone.

What about people walking past schools?

What about them?
If you have a drink inside one of our local pubs, you can’t get a signal, walk onto the patio area and you get 100% signal

I believe it is illegal in this country to interfere with any mobile signals, including jamming. I did see somewhere once that a parliament in one country used them because all the MPs were on the mobiles all the time.
If you do an internet search on gps jammer, you get over 300,000 hits, with many of these linking to sites offering them for sale. ACPO and Britain’s communications regulator are urging the government to make it easier to prosecute people who use and sell jammers, and to make their possession a criminal act.
