Should be more like “With a shortage of 60,000 jobs”

I do not know if this not too late reply regarding GP, but went I was visiting some driving schools I went there to see the guy who runs it.
Before I went to see him I asked him what vehicles they use for teaching Cat C, and his reply was that it was an 18 tonne lorry.
That’s what I was looking for, so I went there to find out that they do not have any 18 tonne lorries only 12 - 13 tonne one.
When I spoke to the guy over the phone he promised me an assessment drive, but unfortunately we went into some small trading estate as that’s where his lorry was parked did a U turn and came back it all took max 10 mins, and that’s not what I was looking for.
Then he started his hard sell trying to sell me his services, he gave me a good price to be fair, but too much hard sell put me off, as it looked to me like he wanted me to come over so he could show me on his iphone some clips of various drivers using his services, and how good he is and that they all pass.
When I asked him whether he is a fully qualified driving instructor, he said, yes, he was, I asked him to see his certificate, so he send me to his office where his brother was sitting, and that his certificate was hanging on the wall.
I guess he hoped I wouldn’t bother going there again as it was over a busy road, but I went to the office, asked his brother, his brother said it should be somewhere with all the papers I asked him to find it, but he couldn’t.
So, my impression was that they will tell you all you want to hear and you would find out what you really get after paying all the money, and at the end despite getting an attractive price I decided I wouldn’t want to have anything to do with them.
Whatever was being said to me wasn’t true when you further investigated it.
They might be OK, people might be happy with them, but I don’t like dealing with people that lie to me on every turn.

Without going into the whole voluntary DSA register thing again … having that qual is no guarantee of getting a good intructor - use recommendations … that said, in this case the fact that he could not prove what he stated is grave cause for concern

his certificate was hanging on the wall.

Just so people know, the DSA certificate is actually an A5 size badge that is intended for display on the truck windscreen. I will be honest and say that mine sits on my desk as I use so many different trucks and I dont want to loose track of it. But if anyone asks, I can produce it within seconds.

So your’e looking for an A5 oblong, blue badge if you’re interested in trainer qualifications.

Anyone thats delivered to Hayes bridge retail park can’t fail to have noticed DHOOT training vehicles either parked on the way to the service entrance off bullsbrook rd, or the DHOOT house/building facing Springfield rd, off Uxbridge rd (at the lights).
Google maps shows a gp vehicle at that house, but I’ve seen the DHOOT vehicle (w&d) in the loading area for the retail park doing the reversing right in front of the gate.
Cant be much fun for the learner when delivery vehicles are in and out of the yard all the time.
