I hear that Peter Pan has got the contract

It’s not a tunnel, UKIP want a canal
bald bloke:
Surely a tunnel under Stonehenge is a waste of money
My thoughts entirely. Seems like an awful lot of expense to improve the ‘ambience’ for Stonehenge tourists who will visit regardless, hardly a priority in my eyes. They would be better off resurrecting one of the many long abandoned but required schemes, like the Hollingworth & Tintwistle bypass to make the Woodhead Pass a decent M62 alternative at peak times.

They’re prising their wallet open then !!..bbc.co.uk/news/business-30269231
No, they’re prising OUR wallet open.
Blatent “Vote Tory” bribe ahead of the election.
They’ll worry about the huge increase in the deficit in June. They’ll be in for another 5 years by this point, so they won’t give much of a hoot about it. If they lose the election despite the bribe, then Labour will inherit a black hole and the £1.7bn “owed” to Brussels on top. Instant disaster for everyone except the MP who’s won a seat for the first time in May.

Would be cheaper to move Stonehenge
I can never work out why they built it so close to the road in the first place.

Labour would inherit a black hole? Start as you mean to go on and all that

… and you could widen the M62 between Manchester and Leeds to 12 lanes and it won’t make a ■■■■ bit of difference until the M67 is continued onto the M1 north of Sheffield and the M65 is continued onto the A1M near Harrogate…
Same with the proposed A27 Arundel bypass. Unless they bypass Worthing too, it will just move the bottleneck forward a few miles for most people.
The time scale is 15 years if no delays if you read the D of T website. The press make it seem that it will all be done in the next 3-4 years
A waste of time and money if they are not doing the black down hills between Ilminster and Honiton.
Going to spend billions on flood defences too amazing with an election due is,nt it.
It is interesting to see that the areas where the proposed improvements are, Two thirds of them are roads in Coalition constituencies. Complete road list can be seen here List of UK roads that will get funding | Returnloads
I agree It is clearly the Government pushing for more votes. There is no money, so they have borrowed even more. What ever happens after the general election there is no doubt there will have to be tax hikes.
Can’t see it happening any time soon, up here 4 years to add another lane round team valley then how long to dual the A1 up to Scotland?? Bet I’ll be retired and long dead before that happens.
What about a decent route across the top end? A66, A69 and the A59■■? Kirkby Stephen dual bypass to take out the massive A66 detour??
Extending the M65 up and along the A59 until it bumps into the A1/A19 junction is a great idea!!
Humpcum bumpcum…

I think the timescale in mind here is “keep 'em folled until June 2015”…
