Gov Survey

Only a day left to tell Rees-Mogg and the Gov how much you do (or dont) hanker after the days of buying goods in feetninches, or pints and gallons, poundsn`ounces, or whatever.
As someone who learnt the SI system at school, and who is now at retirement age, I wonder who will benefit the most if this scheme takes off? Those who clearly mark goods, with readily comparable £/kg pricing? Or those who will introduce differing measures?
.
Or is yet more of the same nonsense to get “the faithful” wound up about summat silly, so they ignore what is really happening?
.
For those interested the heavily loaded questionnaire is here:

The Brexit Opportunities page is a bit light in content isn’t it.

This country has gone completely crazy hasn’t it. Cue someone telling me if I don’t like it I should leave

The Home Office is doing well though.
We have signed a deal giving an initial £120,000,000 to Rwanda thereby increasing sterling exports.
And
Tripled the number of irregular immigrants in the past four years.
OK, that last bit does go against the “ending of freedom of movement” Patel was so proud of, but that was made up for in Dover, wasn`t it?

Some would call an inability to work with and recognise different units of measurement wilful ignorance.
What’s wrong with recognising feet and inches and yards and miles.

This question
“1c. If an item is sold in imperial measures, should there be a requirement for a metric equivalent alongside it?
Yes
No
Not sure
Please explain further if you wish…”
Suggest that they are considering allowing some items to be sold (therefore priced) in differing units.
How can anyone reasonably compare pricing of goods at £/kg vs £/lb ?
The aim seems to be to allow the buying public to be kept in ignorance of any meaningful price comparison.

Nothing wrong in selling goods with multiple measure marked on if desired, that is allowed today after all. But why have a question suggesting they are considering allowing for less clear labelling?

Again a gimmick to get a few die-hards arguing about irrelevancies, but with a chance of letting some rip-off merchants selling a lb of spuds for the same £s as a kg.

If anyone wants to buy a lb of apples, great no problem.
But why not have all apples priced at £x per kilo so we can get an easy comparison? To hqave some priced at £/kg and some at £/lb is only of benefit to shysters.

The only reason why the gubernment are doing this, is because they don’t want to re-label the old stash of rickets and Polio vaccines they have in storage…

BTW, this is a very good example, of the misinformation of the last 30 or 40 years.

“Those pesky Europeans want to take away our pinta”
No they didn’t.

“Those pesky Europeans want us to drive on the right, Iin kilometers”
No they didn’t.

"Those pesky Europeans want to take away our Pounds and Ounces "
No they didn’t. Just put the Kgs or Liters next to it on the label.

"Those pesky Europeans took away our Blue passport ".
No they didn’t. Your gubernment did.

Yep, and it still goes on.

As a point of interest, there are 3 countries in the world that primarily use non-SI measures. Liberia, Myanmar, USA. Even then the USA uses metric for drugs, some alcohol sales, and some other technical stuff too.
And our nutters think it is good to (re)introduce such?

BTW, Rees-Mogg was born 4 years after the UK went metric…
Must we all suffer because he and others
