GOV: majority of drivers have completed DCPC

Especially when you can do 35 hours on the same subject (5 times) and be “qualified”

You wouldn’t be getting much money out of no speke english drivers if you had any kind of written exam…

This argument probably fits better into the ukip/dcpc thread - but it occurs to me that UKIP in coalition might favour a move for the year 2020 to make each 5 year renewal of DCPC include both a medical AND written exam - which will probably say ‘goodbye to old one eye’ - and johnny foreigner in one stroke! :smiling_imp: (I refer to the ones in foreign wagons, tearing up our roads, paying no road duty, and depriving domestic drivers of internal loads!) :imp:

If you are thinking that UKIP is going to be the saviour for our economy and trade when they are incapable to make a sober statement on the issues of transport in Great Britain is rather "myopic ". The deprivation of local loads are the result of some “British” companies contracting foreign return load lorries or training East European drivers. Whom to blame ? Tractors don’t pay taxes and tearing up our roads while using cheaper diesel. UKIP in coalition will be driving our country with a commercial handbrake.

Some can do the same subject (5 times) and still get the answers wrong in the participation questionaires :unamused:

. Does the report state how many companies were fined / taken to court for not checking their drivers validity for driving at all

Given that the Company has a certain responsibility for doing licence checks which really should include checking Valid DCPC card surely.
Just saying like :unamused:

Rock up to work, collect your keys > "Got your driver card on you drive ? :open_mouth: May I check it ? " < > It`s not hard is it  :sunglasses:

You can also do 35 hours on stowing luggage correctly or customer care - bus/coach drivers’ courses in other words - and then suddenly be qualified to drive a HGV. But like Conor says, the DCPC is a good idea.

Yeah - vote for UKIP and see a Labour government that will promptly raise all the benefits for the non-workers (their staunch supporters) and sign us up to join the Euro.

I was just wondering how many would be left on the forum if you needed your DCPC to come on & post.

More than couldn’t post, the majority have it. :stuck_out_tongue:

So how are the DCPC providers doing right now? It’d be interesting to see whether the classrooms are still full, how their post September prices compare to pre September etc.

The busiest one and the most advertised in the West Country only had 2 chaps on Monday both polish

I teach DCPC & can vouch that hundreds of drivers in my neck of the woods have missed the deadline & are still coming through the doors to gain their DQC. Many transport managers & owner drivers thought it would go away but it didn’t & are now paying the price as vehicles haven’t turned a wheel regularly.

Fully booked at the moment - mainly people who didn’t need the CPC so much as want it to try and get into driving or to keep their options open going forward. A good few C1 holders who have ‘just found out about it’.

As for prices - not changed since 2011 really. I could have charged much more as many competitors did but I felt I benefited more by being reasonable on cost.

Apparently the majority of drivers have completed their course. That’s 564,000 out of 800,000, so happened to the 236,000 ? ( that’s over 1/4 ! )

Can you tell me where you got these figures from? According to the Driving standards agency, there are 675,000 truck and bus drivers, of which 664,000 have completed the required DCPC training. That sounds like a majority to me.

thats on page 13 of this month Trucking magazine.

Another article in this months T&D quotes the figures I used. Who to believe?

I have no doubt that a significant majority, have completed their DCPC, however there is still a significant shortfall in the number of drivers available.

I’ll see what I’m offered for next week but I’m close to taking a break, the shifts are getting longer to try and make up for fewer drivers. A lot of the guys look like zombies by Thursday night, the current situation simply isn’t sustainable for much longer.
