It’s the best decision I’ve made after years of being miserable in various office jobs, sometimes I forget I’m working Certainly not clock watching or fantasising about killing work colleagues
Just like to say thanks for all the helpful posts, it’s been invaluable.
alder:
Is it tipping tarmac through the summer? what do the tippers do in the winter, just curious as I have never worked on tippers?
We tip stone too. Not sure what else to be honest but constant work all year
Oh OK thanks and with tipper experience you could get on the gritters for councils or their subcontractors so there are other jobs to be had in the winter around Jan Feb when other work is thin on the ground. I know some of the bulk tipper drivers at Potters love their jobs and reckon they have the best jobs in driving. Good luck mate pleased for you
Did you hand in your CV to the local companies, or did you know someone?
Was through a friend but there’s loads of tipper jobs in Manchester
OK, I approached a couple near me and they didn’t seem interested.
Maybe they don’t need drivers or think I’m a bellend! - Shut up people!!!
I would stick at it mate, easiest class 2 work you’ll get
Was slightly economical with the truth regarding my experience
Will do, but on the agency at present trying to get a bit of experience.
I couldn’t/wouldn’t blag the experience, as only passed a couple of weeks ago.
I started out on construction sites as a trainee engineer, so know the game well…
