Next you’ll get “phone the office if you have a problem or delay”, then you try all day and they dont pickup the phone…oh and the next day they’ll do their nut as they dont know about failures.

Ok, not all are like that by any means but just a heads up. It just one of those things.

About time you went to sleep then your back on the go in 4 hrs

And the answer to why were you parked at Watford Gap for 35 minutes yseterday is? … because I was waiting for someone to pick up the ■■■■■■■ phone.

In my 4th year driving and I had all that Nonsense.
It’s hard to do …but just brush it off.
At my current Outfit, they have restricted the trucks to 52…Then expect you to have break on bay…No chance…Carnt touch you if your legal.
I don’t do FAVOURS and not keen to rush it back as the effort is not noticed.

Keep up trucking and remember…Loads of fellow truckers on here to help you along the way.

What would your advice be then bud if all that was given is bad?,

Or if you don’t give out advice, what would you do yourself in o/p’ s situation.?

And you’re on here at 7pm?

You’ve told us nothing about how it ‘’ turned out ok’'… and tbh a 2 am start sounds to me like a punishment and/or showing you who is boss after being ■■■■■■ off about something. :bulb:

I gave my advice in the thread.

About halfway down page 1.

Fair enough, and good advice too, although it was what to do after the event.
My advice to him was how to react during the phone conversation, and did not involve ''being funny or any ‘‘guns blazing’’ merely answering the point from his perspective, so I would reckon a combination of the two would be indeed good advice.

I agree.

And I think the way you never suggested ‘blazing guns’ either comes from the fact we have been in the business a similar amount of time.

Do they pay you for breaks? Or do they dock you 45 mins?

.

It is perfectly legal to take your break while sat on a bay (provided you’re not doing the loading, of course). Similarly there is nothing wrong or illegal about the employer directing when/where breaks should be taken.

Like a lot of regs in this job, just because it’s legal does not mean it’s safe…(…a bit like 15 on 9 off :bulb: )
For example, if you are tired, on a bay on break (as told by employer).wanting to sleep but can’t due to noise, truck moving with activity in back and all the rest of it, you could be then driving tired if stupid enough to not stop later on just because of what you were told.

Absolutely so, Robroy, however the assertion made was that provided you were legal your employer can’t do anything to you, with the specific example of being told when/where to take your break. My point was that (a) it’s not illegal to take a break on a bay and (b) an employer would be perfectly entitled to invoke discipline procedures if you refused to comply with such instructions (subject to them being reasonable yada, yada).

The way I see it is I have my break in peace…Not having to hear someone blazing along my trailer loading.
I do that run in 10hr most if not everybody else does it in 9hr!
May I add they wonder why they get ■■■■ pay!!

“Reasonable” being the key thing here. What the employer might deem reasonable is always without doubt over-ruled by any driver upping the anti on safety… the book stops here etc.

On the OP issue: like others have said… you’ll need to grow some and not be bullied. Remember… it’s your right foot - you choose brake or gas… the desk jockey is a ***

Well rest of the week gone good not had to speak to office just text when parked up and get given a start for the next day which like now I parked up at 8 this morning now not start till 4 tomorrow so can’t be bad

Maybe the desk jockey isn’t a *** as the OP has said it all ended well?
