Got a start on the boxes

Finally got a start on containers absolutely had enough of fighting with curtains and straps and getting the odd bang on the head from a pole (curtain pole not person lol) so really looking forward to a nice change. The firm seems decent enough but you never know for sure until you’ve worked for them. So going off what I read on here I’ll be purchasing a lump hammer and acquiring a bit of scaffolding pipe over the weekend for them stiff doors. I will post again next week with how it’s going.

Good luck always a bit of the unknown starting with a new company or doing a new line of work and you’re doing both so hope it works out.

Have fun…

As that 45 comes winging it’s way down 6 inches from yer cab.

Hope you enjoy it, I do. A couple of words of warning, when you first pick up a box take it steady on the first couple of sharp bends as they can be badly loaded. A 20’ box loaded with 24 tonne or more of scrap will be full to the brim so 12 tonne of that will be in the top half and that’s a lot of weight high up. Take care opening the doors, you will come to curse container doors often, cause if there is anything heavy leaning against them they will open quickly and if doors don’t get whatever falls out will. Stuff falling off the back of a lorry is an old joke, but it ain’t funny when it lands on you.
Take it easy and enjoy, who are you starting with?

Thanks for the replies and thanks a lot for the sound advice…I won’t mention the name yet until I know if there a good firm or not but I will say it’s in the Manchester area and by the sounds of it the bulk of the work is out of freightliner Trafford park. Thanks again for the replies.

Red lorry. Buckley on it? :grimacing: Lol. :sunglasses:
