Got a start on class 1

Had an interview today for class 1 newbie

Very short and sweet … No test drive… I was told to work 4 days next week to learn the basics … Pay is £40 per shift ( better than nothing) if all goes well I’m out on my own the following week…

Well chuffed as it seems a decent company and its only 7 miles from home.

Will you be getting more than £40 per shift once you’re working on your own? Because no way is that good money - I don’t think it’s even minimum wage.

Bloody hope so… It’s about 500 per week … Didn’t think that was 2 dad for a newbie

Who 2 dad

£500 per week is about £100 per day is that what you come out with or before tax

The £40 sounds like a token payment. To be picky, not sure it’s totally legal because of minimum wage rules. I would look on it as expenses and no pay. But, for me, it seems perfectly fair. After all, you’re earning nothing for the company during that short training period and the money goes straight up once you’re let loose.

All the best with it, Pete
