Why is Google praised so much?
On using google as a search engine I was greeted with 232,000 hits, how on earth are you supposed to check them all? With 10 hits to a page thats 23,200 pages to check, alot of which will be duplications. Now, using a metasearch engine as a comparison(of which google is one of them it uses) I was greeted with 6 pages of the most relevant, without duplications to boot.

a metasearch engine is fine if you are looking for pages with metatags.
not all pages on the web have metatags, not all metatags are relevant to your own search, especially with all the thousands of homemade and amateur sites around
google is the better search engine if you dont know what you are looking for, just that the most relevant results will be on the first 6 pages anyway
Hi
All web pages don’t have metatags, and yes they are probably the home made and amateur pages, but then again why would I be searching for Jimmy Crickets baby photos or Farmer Jacks cider drinking days in Taunton. These sites are home made and are usually passed around by word of mouth to the people it concerns, the web author would not be interested in the page being at the top of a search engines priority, just the fact that it was there for his/her mates to see. As you say the most relevant will be on the first 6 pages anyway and probably contain a metatag, so why constrain yourself to one search engine when there are engines out there that use a number of engines to produce a list of the most relevant sites to the data you have input.
