Good work DVLA

6weeks a go I received a letter from DVLA revoking my licence due to high blood pressure.

After 3 weeks I managed to get my condition under control and emailed the relevant forms, unfortunately I must have taken down the wrong address. When I sent the email I was told it would take four days before the email would be looked at.So a week later I called and was told that no email had been received I resent the email and called the next day and was told there was still no email.I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told he could not do anything more however she would get him to ring me later, this was 6pm last Friday. When it got to 7 pm I had given up but the supervisor Calle just after 7.

Meanwhile I had discovered my mistake with the address and resent the forms to the correct address,L explained to the supervisor my mistake and he assured me that he would. Check on Monday.I was worried that I would have to wait another four days but he
Said that if the mail was there on Monday he would personally push it on to the next stage for processing.I thought yea sure!

However yesterday I had a call on my answerphone saying that he had found the mail that the forms were ok and he had passed them on and he would let me know about progress.Again I thought yea !

At bout 11 this morning I had a call from the supervisor informing me that my licence was restored and I could resume driving now even though my licence would take another 7 days to arrive.

I hear many bad things about DVLA medical but this experience has made me think there are some very good staff there,it’s just a matter of getting hold of one of them.L would like to publicly thank this guy at DVLA for his help and service

Ps.I go back to work tomorrow after 6 weeks

well done wiggy at least you persevered and got the answer you wanted, well done also to dvla, personally i have issues every year with them when renewing mine, this year is no different, although my doctors surgery have a lot to answer for, as i had to re-submit to them 3 times till they got it right…good luck mate.

Did you leave it to the last minute for a medical before applying for your licence
Reason I ask is your Doctor should or would have been able to prescribe blood pressure tablets to see if they brought your pressure down before submitting your licence form, thus avoiding any problem with the DVLA
At least its all sorted now good luck,

Great story wiggly , glad to hear you got sorted.
If I could be nosy , just how high was your bp when they suspended you ?
Reason I ask is I also have hypertension ( controlled ) and would be interested to know.
Tell me to sod off and mind my own if you want , I won’t be offended.
Jim.

The dvla limit is 180/100 if you continually exceed this it is automatic revocation
