The local police in Marbella are having trouble getting new police cars and motorbikes.

It seems no company is willing to supply 35 cars and 30 motorbikes needed in the town without far greater guarantees than in other towns.

The revelation came from the man looking after safety in the town under the Management Committee, Carlos Rubio, who described the problems as unique and who also revealed that much of the local police force had been depressed by events.

The previous chief of the local police, Rafael del Pozo, was arrested and charged as part of the Malaya corruption case.

Meanwhile the Organised Crime Squad on the Costa del Sol have been looking into alleged irregularities in the running of the municipal tow truck service.
