Good job the horse was calm

Clown in the white car certainly doesn’t help the situation however the truck driver is a prize ■■■■■ shocking driving.

Contraflow:
I think the most important thing is being overlooked here; where are the pictures of this Sophie Williams girl in those skin tight spray-on horsey trousers that these horsey types like to wear?

you may want to ask how old she is 1st ■■ :unamused: it could have a bearing on your court case
,
you may be a tad late in breaking her in old chap monkey does monkey do . :grimacing:

Terrible driving what - bad show .

if you stop the video at 0:10 … what is the driver holding in his left hand ? phone ?

horse rider should have taken the primary position, being in the gutter invited the stupid overtake … no excuse for driver though, he should loose his licence permanently.

What the hell is the primary position? Some cycling thing?

By the way I do ride occasionally, keeping well to the left in case some nutter hasn’t seen me

You will get yourself killed riding in the gutter… as demonstrated in this video the road position of the rider was such that the trucker had room to squeeze by, and he did. A more experienced rider would have anticipated what was likely to happen and stayed in the centre of her lane. This incident was the result of three different pieces of crap road-man-ship. The white car was being stupidly over cautious, the horse rider should not have been in the gutter, and the truck driver seemed to be void of any intelligence.

Fields are for horses and trailers are for transporting them distances,
not riding on trafficked roads where this sort of thing happens much too often.

I would guess she did not want to be there either, maybe she had been in fields and on bridleways for hours with just may be a few hundred yards on this road to join it all up. I totally agree there are roads that are totally unsuitable for horses and bikes but sometimes you have to join them for short periods.
I had one a little while ago whilst out cycling. 35 miles on the quietest of roads, but I did have a 300 yard bit on the A7 to do. halfway along this short section I could see a bulker coming followed by a long stream of cars all jockeying to overtake him. I thought bolloxs with this, if they start to pass the lorry while the lorry is passing me it will be close, so I quickly jumped off, the trucker give me the thumbs up, but I bet he thought to himself, what’s the daft ficker doing on this road.

+1
Just because there’s a field it doesn’t mean that she can ride in it, not every horse rider is a major land owner. There is this misconception that owning horses means you’re posh and loaded, many people with normal jobs have a horses.

It’s also the public highway, that means it can be used by the public, whether they’re in a vehicle, on a cycle, on a horse or walking.

[zb] disgraceful.

I know! Why is that horse on the road!

I’m pretty anti horse. I’m hoping that all of us being truck drivers (a decidedly labour voting profession, or so it seems), I’ll have some support here…

The horse used to be a brilliant animal. They could be used for transport of one or several people, they carried goods, ploughed fields, and saved man a lot of time, by virtue of being pretty huge and well muscled.

But then we developed the engine. We have motorbikes, cars and buses for the transport of people (and planes…). We have trucks for the transport of goods. We have tractors to do the manual labour involved with farming. Why the hell do we need horses? They are slow. Inefficient. Very fallible (prone to freaking out and killing people). They cannot be controlled.

Then, in addition to horses walking about, we have horse boxes driven by incompetent idiots (followed one through a diversion once, he was on the other side of the jeffing road more often than not. Same sized vehicle as mine so I kept in my lane to prove a point :grimacing:, over took the See you next tuesday and his eyes were that close together he looked like a Cyclops :open_mouth: Wonder if he had a licence…)

Get them off the road.

I don’t think they have any place on the road today. But they do have the right currently, so we need to protect them as much as possible, so the driver as the person who spends most time on the road should have taken charge and sat there until they figured something out!

just be happy that he didnt accelerate the situation with a blast of his horn

kyk:
2x idiots stationery on the road… and lorry driver who was waiting for them to move, they didn’t move, so what he was suppose to do…?

Sit there, not pass them so close that they’re touching the horse as they pass and no I’m not exaggerating, the truck was that close.

So you picked your limp up riding horses? Or were you the driver…

Driver has a job to do. Car driver is a ■■■■ and can wait. Horse does not need to be on the road. If you’re on an escalator you make way for someone who needs to catch the next train or be late. Same thing to my mind…

Why! is it ■■■■■ envy or did the love of your life prefer to ride a horse?

A horse and rider has as much right to be on the road as a cyclist, car or van driver, old age pensioner pottering slowly about and come to think about it … a truck driver with a false sense of self importance :unamused:
live & let live ffs!

Definitely ■■■■■ envy.

Driver has a job to do.

Are you a tipper driver? Doesn’t give him the right to run people and animals over just because they make him wait a minute or two.

The driver’s a tw*t here. Just wait it’s only a few minutes if that. Passing that close could have been dangerous to both rider and horse. The car driver could have made things easier by carrying on slowly and not stopping though.

htmldude:
Driver has a job to do.

Ahhh it must be me that’s a bit slow on the uptake :frowning:
I wasn’t aware that if you were in employment then you had free reign of the carriageways (so to speak)

Christ DD you had a few sherbets too many tonight

To Bluey Circles, (and I’m not derailing the thread here) riding a bike or horse well out from the kerb seems like disaster waiting to happen to me. Yes it may mean that people have to hang back and overtake only when safe, but is assumes EVERY vehicle driver has seen you. Obviously not every one will, for various reasons. The consequences of them not seeing you, particularly if you are in the middle of the lane on an old push bike or on an aged nag, are going to be fatal aren’t they?

For that reason I’ll stick to the gutter thanks, where I might be able to bail out to the left if I get a belt from a mirror etc.

Shockingly bad demonstration of impatience by the truck driver… (And I bloody hate horses :imp:!)
