Well i have had a great idea that would level out the playing field because most of these lorry drivers fiddle the tacho , don’t pay our road tax , etc and fuel up over there using big fuel tanks meaning there overheads are cheaper so they are doing british family men out of work leaving british kids to go starving.
Anyway , i digress , this idea is mainly a health and safety idea and it is anyone driving a foreign lorry should only be allowed to drive in the inside slow lane or lane 1 for those who think they are clever. They should not be allowed into the middle lane AT ALL.
If they were on the m25 they would still have to change lanes at some of the junctions if they weren’t coming off so the accidents would happen then.
Or cars could put their foot down or slow down when they sit next to a lorry indicating in their direction.
I think you will find that in a lot of cases the car driver will shoulder some of the blame as they seem to ignore any form of indication from a lorry. How many times have you had a car sitting level with the front of you, you indicate to pull out the third lane is empty yet the car just sits there despite an indicator illuminating the inside of his car from 6 foot away. Indicate in France and if the third lane is empty the car will 9 times out of 10 pull over for you. Second to the Belgians Brits are probably the worst drivers in Europe and the Belgians only top the league because of the stupid things they do rather than their pig ignorance
Why’s it such a problem here? I’ve never heard one tale of a brit doing this abroad, when I used to do Europe I always checked the left hand mirrors several times before pulling out, and even then I’d pull out VERY slowly in case something was there that I missed.

Perhaps foreign car driver know to show some respect to something that’s a lot bigger than them and allow it out.

Many car drivers - I describe them as creepers - will sit in lane 2 at 58 mph (probably showing 60 on the speedo) for miles, when they catch up with a truck, foreign or not, they will contentedly inch past it instead of putting their foot down.
These people seem to have little awareness of their surroundings; as pedestrians they are the ones who suddenly stop in front of you or charge out of shops into your path. Educating them is an uphill task, probably futile.

Car drivers should not linger in lane 2 when overtaking.The driver should get past as quickly as possible for his own benefit.We know this fine well.It would benefit all of us if the government were to put out public information videos to educate the ordinary motorist about how large heavy vehicles are handled in a different way,trailer cut in for example or use of acceleration lanes.It may not make any difference but at least they can’t say they didn’t know because they certainly aren’t taught itat the moment.

Will that include British trucks returning home So you think they should buy diesel in every country they pass thru or just ours . You will be surprised how many foreign trucks only come into the U.K. With just enough to do the work and get out due to 4x2 weight implications

Probably down to luck more than anything, would be interesting to see the figures broken down into motorways and other roads. Drive across Europe and it is noticeable the poor standard of motorway driving here, lack of signalling, lack of anticipation, lack of awareness as to what is going on around them an inability to drive at 60mph thereby keeping out of the way of lorries. You will overtake more cars coming from Dover to London than you will in a week driving on the continent and can someone explain why when I am going across the M62 at 40 ton I am overtaking cars on the uphill. Europeans use motorways to get from A to B as fast as legally allowed Brits use them for a sightseeing tour.

I know somebody who’d send a couple of truck down to meet you, alternatively he could meet you at Horsham St Faiths as he burn more of the fuel than you getting from Norfolk to Dover.

Theres no difference driving lhd to rhd apart from changing gear with your other hand, its NOT a cause of accidents. Overheads from some countries are cheaper yes but thats just competition and business. As for road tax-
