Do you think this is a good idea. Me I think its a good idea
Aldi and Lidl won’t like it.Should it come to United Kingdom?
Does the ban also apply to offloading with a pumptruck. Or handballing at places that have no forklift .
As be great if it did. No more house deliveries dragging pallets up driveways etc.
Granted don’t do Aldi etc much.but doesn’t bother me self tipping doesn’t take long with there electric trucks…
Much rather tip myself then sit around for hours on end waiting if honest.
What about Moffett deliveries, didn’t sound like they were allowed.
I don’t like rules myself, so I would rather have the choice. As said, it is often easier to unload yourself than wait around for somebody else. I think there’s plenty of jobs available elsewhere if your current job involves more loading than you are happy with.
It is a jobs creation policy but it just won’t be practical. Especially remote deliveries would require a second man [emoji12] and at the delivery point the driver couldn’t help? Stupid.
How would it work for some supermarket deliveries by taillift, would probably require a second man to do the ■■■■■■■ and dumping.
The Driver was always responsible for his load, Does this new rule make the Driver immune from any violation ?
Many Moons ago when you went to Smithfield Market, they had a team of Drivers, whose sole job was to drive your truck for off loading / loading.
if you didn’t agree to them driving your Truck you didn’t get unloaded or loaded. And as most loads were refers you didn’t have much of a choice.
Bad idea over regulation by governments is always bad.
Fat Boys Charter
Just give us the choice pls, let the fat ■■■■■ vegetate, and those that want to get on, get on…
Think it’s a grey area who’s responsible for loading offloading a truck
Years ago worked for family run manufacturing company.
Drove flatbed delivering garage / roller shutter doors to sites.
Did delivery one day as always i climbed on back passing the bits and pieces down to the onsite fitters .
Later in day got a call. One of the fitters apparently injured himself somehow…
Was later told by company.
At every delivery if stuff has to be handballed off truck I am.not to get involved have to let fitters/ outside contractors get on back of truck oand handball take there stuff off.
My view was my truck I’m insured I’m not letting outsiders on the back of it incase they fall off etc.
So where do you draw the line. No more lorries fitted with HIABs or Moffetts, No skip wagons or hook loaders. Presumably plant hire wont be able to drive the machine off. If you’re not involved in the loading, who secures it and who takes responsibility when it falls off? Most building sites I used to deliver to, if you waited for the forklift, you’d be there a very long time.
