Good firms in Teesside to look at?

If people have any info on good firms in the Teesside area. please could you help and give me some good advice, as looking to get into class 1 work I’ve been on class 2 work now for the last 2years I’ve had my class 1 7months and am 25. Any info or advice would be useful I will even travel if it meant doing tramping work.

Thanks for your help ste

A bit out of your way but you could try George Allinson transport in Darlington.
Old fashioned firm, descent kit, plenty of work.

Cheers mate yeh I’ve heard of thm, darlington’s just up the road from me so that wouldn’t be to bad, do they take on newbies to class 1 driving do you no?

Not sure who there is classed as good but in that area there is

Wincantons (I’ve done abit of subbyin’ for them of late)
Les woolsten
Jentone freight
Ward bros
David fox
Psa transport

There all around the same area near teesport, don’t no what there like to work for though. Worth a call if your wanting class 1 I suppose. No harm in trying.

I don’t no mate, can’t see why not.
I work for another container hauler but was doing there work all week. And while I was loading, one of there’s asked me to show them how to slide his trailer to load a 20ft box, so my guess is he didn’t have much experience. He only looked young.
Then again, I’m young, I’m only 21 been doing containers a year now . I was struggling to get a start, not for my age but the 2yr experience crap. Just keep going in and asking / annoying them. They will soon get the idea your keen and give u the start.

I was phoning around sending emails off for a good 2 month, got fed up, went into a company n had a chat, really nice fella but kept saying insurance this insurance that, he asked me to go grab some lunch while he rang insurance, went back and got greeted with " right come see me Monday, youve got a warrington , that’s your truck "

Moral of the story, don’t phone n email. Go see the gaffers and ■■■■■■■ show them you want it!

reed boardall down at boroughbridge set newly qualified drivers on, its maybe 45mins from teeside but they will set you on as a tramper, day man or nights ,all top notch equipment nothing over 3 yrs old
click on the search function on main page and type in their name, there appears to be lots of info on them, and they are always looking, you will get a start and your 2 yrs experience
good luck

Spot on mate, a pile of 200 identical applications/CV’s on the desk means bugger all, but someone presentable and polite turns up armed with CV goes straight to the head of the queue IMO.

Gaffer if able to be got at can visualise you approaching HIS customers, that first couple of minutes to sell yourself is vital, so clean clothes and boots and a shave and a smile, be polite and an impression of responsibilty reliability and trustworthiness wins every time.

dingle dangle has a place near teeside airport dont know if there looking but i’d bang there nite managers brains out she’s a rite tasty piece

I was going to say this… If you go off tramping it matters not that it’s 45mins away. You’re only doing the journey once a week.

Just don’t hit owt!!!

I’ve fueled up at david fox, met the son who sorted me out, seemed like a nice bloke, reckon they’d take on a new driver, seemed like a “proper” company.

Thought Wincanton would see you right. The assessment will probs be just quick scoot round the block and show you how the docks work. They use TCT2 mainly and it’s a ■■■■■ of a terminal .

Well of you go for assessment then let us know how you do. Probably see you about.

And like Saaamon says, David fox would be a good shout
