What a question to ask on here :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

I should think word of mouth is the best way to get good drivers.

1 that don’t tailgate
2 . 1 that don’t kill or maim cyclists
3. 1 that don’t carry containers containing  you know who :grimacing:

In Poland.

in the bosses eyes the best driver is the cheapest!

I’m hearing from companies, they are finding it difficult to get drivers in some areas.
At the moment I am receiving out of the blue , letters offering me class1 work :open_mouth:

We advertise on our website then if the cv looks ok we get them in for an assessment which
lasts nearly on hour including reversing and about 50 questions on hours, highway code etc
and if they pass (probably 1 out 4 fail) they then attend an interview.

Already got a job, but is this another sign of a driver shortage in certain areas or different parts of the country !

Don’t you mean who can skin a rollup with both hands, whilst still driving in a straight like…lol :grimacing:

We take on reliable agency drivers

we use our own website to advertise as well of other places however if we mention a mate wants a job they tend to go straight to the top ( provided the driver doing the mentioning is a decent lad ) i have vouched for 2 lads all both were good lads and i knew this as id never put a word in for a mate who is in a nutshell a knobhead
last yr we had a spate of bad smashes roll overs etc so much so that we lost our bump bonus every incident came out it was drivers faults ( one lady was left in a wheelchair ) at one of the drivers reps meetings the this issue was raised and the fact that we needed a tougher process was needed when taking on new employes

The opposite of a bad one.

He didn’t ask “where do you find cheap drivers?”
I believe the best firms still use word of mouth, the worst use Gumtree* and those who are in between ask for cvs’.
When I was involved with plant, plant operators were often poached or recruited by word of mouth. It’d be interesting if there’s a current tipper or machine driving member who can say whether this still goes on.
*Gumtree ads just sound like tin pot operators, too tight to advertise anywhere.

With my shiny blue DQC I am actually an extra good driver now…

That piece of humble plastic is a passport to anywhere don’t ya know?

had an interview with a guy who advertised a job on gumtree last year, never again will i apply for the job off gumtree

I used to think I was a crap driver till I joined this forum.

Reckon I’m capable of demonstrating moments of proffesionalism and moments of muppetry as much as the next girl.

Is a good driver also a lucky driver.

I saw the title of this thread and felt compelled to join in as I thought it was a thread all about me…
