I have thought about commenting on this for several years now. I see a lot of threads and stories of how some drivers passed with 1, 2 or 3 minor faults as though this makes them better drivers. There are only two results, pass or fail, the rest doesn’t matter.
I took my class three in Leeds, the station has now closed and I passed first time, no thrills, spills or anything that I remember except driving back into the test station feeling confident.
My class one was taken in Beverley and I made a couple of mistakes that I remember. I must have corrected them because I got the second sticky label in my brown book. On my chat with the examiner, he asked me what the speed limit was on Cottingham road. I said 40 to which he asked, then why do 45? He said that I had spent too much time looking in the mirrors and not enough time checking the speedometer! It didn’t matter. I had passed both tests, but it doesn’t make me any better or worse than someone else who has passed with no faults. We both passed.
A friend who was born into a haulage company had around 3 attempts to pass his test and he was a good driver, he had just picked up some bad habits driving a little TK Bedford straight from being 17. Cocky arrogant or nervous, it didn’t matter, there are only two results.
