You get a good day when most of the traffic lights are green for you, sail through towns and cities with no congestion or hold ups, and roundabouts are clear.
You get tipped quick by friendly staff, you get a decent place to park and a nice meal.
A bad day, you wake up in a good mood but it goes downhill quickly, a road rage incident, awkward goods in staff, rude fork lift drivers, hit traffic jams and a Nissan Micra is having a tyre change so they shut three motorway lanes for elf n safety.
End up in urine soaked lay by and take sea sick pills due to the cab rocking with the pallet and parcel lads training to be fast jet pilots.

I feel your pain. Had a good enough start to the day yesterday, which then then rapidly took a turn to ■■■■■■■■■■ Today didn’t start well, and went gradually downhill. . Narrowly avoided t - boning a ■■■■ in an audi who cut across me to get onto a slip road. Caused my load to shift, but not enough to fall off, or be refused. .
Tomorrow had better buck up…
Two 15 hours and one 10 already used and its only Tuesday…

Yep, twice over 13 and over 9 hours driving once so far. And only started Monday morning.
… Not good at all… this better not become a regular thing.
(I’ve lasted more than 9 months in this job. That is good. Longest so far is three years in one stint… have licence, will travel)

I have done 40.5 hours this week with 3 shifts to go, the last one being a possible double shift (night out)
I find that a good day or a bad day will start from the first moment and often depends on getting out of the yard on time.
A good day… you arrive for work to hear “good morning, your vehicle is all loaded, the paperwork is printed and it’s in the cab, here are the keys, have a nice day”. (If such a thing can be imagined).
Bad day = normal, opposite to above.

All I (normally) do is trunking deckers to cairnryan and back. 3 hours each way maximum but there can be a lot of waiting around at each end. Loading, waiting for the next ferry etc. Occasionally I do double runs when required. Down, up, down, park up, up, down, up. It is a cushy job but it can be bloody long hours sometimes
So far, today is not looking good…
if I make it to the end of the week without getting arrested, I will count that as a result.
Aye like starting early to get a good start then being told the trailer you want has just arrived but no one knows where it is and you spend ages trying to find it and you wish you had just stayed in bed
Lately the only time I have a good day is when I sleep for 24 hours !
Reading some posts I am glad I moved on to supermarket work good work no hassle I my own bed at night no 15 hr shift I will not do them been there done it won’t go back
Started working nights recently (anywhere between 12 and 15 hours) and for me a good night is when I can make it to the end of the shift before the drowsiness and heavy eyes set in. A bad night is when I’m fighting it half way through the shift. It’s somthing Ive always took for granted when on days and hopefully I’ll get used to it as time goes on.
The trouble is i think some of us are guilty of remembering the bad days more than the good days.
I’m having a 50/50 day drops are going good but ■■■■■■ a transporter driver off on M1 and a warehouse monkey
I’m having a normal absolutely cracking day. I’ve been retired 13 years!
I’m on holiday this week,so was having a good day
Until she dragged me to a local garden centre…did a bit of shopping, decided to have din-dins there…Cod,chips and vegetables looked good…but the vegetables turned out to be SPROUTS,RED CABBAGE and CARROTS
Now,I like all three, but not with blooming fish and chips
I ate them anyway …part of my five a week

Best job I’ve ever had driving a “Shopping Trolley”, 9-10 hours shifts, sticking to the speed limits or below, no “Aye just take it and put a defect in when you get back… for that missing mirror!!!” kind of thing

I have done 15 hour shifts in there thanks to Evelyn chucking an extra run my way to bump my hours up a bit. Last Thursday I got shifted onto ops and delivered to 2 shops in Whitley bay then north shields. 13.5 hour shift doing supermarket work. It all depends on whether they keep you local or send you a bit farther afield. We go as far as Middlesbrough and that isn’t an 8 hour round trip
