Gone back to doing 7.5t work

Did artics for stobarts for a month, didnt really feel comfortable with it so opted for something a bit less full on. Found a 7.5t job local, nice tidy boss 5 days a week, 2 nights out max. decent money (for 7.5 work) Enjoying it to be honnest. No rush to jump back on the 44t band-wagon but one day it will happen.

Do whatever you feel comfortable doing. Doesn’t matter if it’s can work or heavy haulage, we’re all just making money.

This will be your last post on here then. Trucknet, by truckers, for truckers.

Enjoy puddlejumpernet or vannet

U left stobby too early it takes time to gain experience then u get confidence

Nowt wrong with that drive what’s best for you, I drove artics for years but 3 years ago a man 2 mins walk from home asked me to drive his 7.5 for the summer same money as big trucks but so much better job, did it for 8 months loved it

Ok so you tried it you didn’t like it so if you feel are happy doing 7.5t work then fine as you said it will happen 1 day just you not quite reedy for it

Good luck with the new job you can still post we won’t bite honest ( well I might sometimes     know what us women can be like   )

im a newbie to driving tried to get rigid work wasnt having much luck but got a 7.5t job with better hourly wage than some class 2 and 1 work around and a 90 second walk to work im happy with my job :grimacing:

I used to drive 7.5s (and have to park them, and handball all the gear off) in the very heart of London. Give me class 1 over that any day. But they were fun to drive. Just wasn’t on “fun wages”

Alliance Disposables should be burnt down. More than likely will be bought out by Bunzl though

You’ve got to do what you feel comfortable with, but I hope you haven’t given up to early.
I was sure I’d made a massive mistake when I left an office job and started driving artics, in fact in the first month I did nearly give up, however one day it started to click into place and I began to feel more comfortable doing the job.

I remember seeing a thread on here a good while back where somebody was saying that his company would pay class 2 rate to anyone that’d take a sprinter van into London, and class 1 rate to 7.5 drivers

tool time  mon-fri 6am 2pm over time when wanted 1.000.000.ph :grimacing:

I took my 7.5 tonner just inside the m25 ( near Epsom) spent my time ■■■■■■■■ myself with all the kamakazi cyclists and pedestrians. Never again. I doff my hat to anyone who goes into the centre of London in a van, never mind a artic!

2nd day out in one, I’d been messing with my Snooper, and had somehow set it to shortest (rather than quickest route) straight through the congestion zone. ■■■■ good job I knew London, and it was a Saturday, or I’d have got a right kicking.

Have taken an arctic round London np you just have to be more aware of things

yeah i agree, i think the word is omnipotent

Nowt wrong with London, you just have to drive like a Londoner. I.e. Not giving a toss.

Never minded it in a rigid, provided I could park somewhere at my drop, not a place I’d like to do regularly in an artic, but I’m talking the City and West End, outskirts and suburbs aren’t a problem.
