Simple, just carry three pairs, one pair PVC or rubber gloves for fuel and oil and washing down.2 pair of leather ones, use one pair on coupling up, crappy jobs, or when it is raining.
The other pair will last for ages if you only use them to open doors, strap pallets or push a pallet truck around.
Spot on about multiple gloves. Done it for a while now and it makes a big difference.
Sorry, double post.
And if you drive a tanker take your gloves off before climbing the ladder and just use a rag to wipe the handrails.

Anyone know where I can get a decent pair of leather gloves, not ones that let the dirt & [zb] through after a week.
I got ten pairs of this guy, spot on for the price.
i got mine from ebay, they are leather oil rig workers gloves, very strong very comfy, i’ve had them a good 6 months and no rips or tears.
I cannae abide rigger gloves they are too fat and clumsy. I wear picker gloves from the warehouse but they said i can get them now because i dont work in the warehouse. Never once took a pair of the tiger leather gloves in 5 years still got the same uniform for 5 years when other drivers get a new uniform every year - yet i cant get a pair of 2 quid gloves
Got 14 pairs for 9.99 off ebay, one pair lasts about 4-5 month before they start splitting so ive got a good supply for the future.
Still ■■■■■■ me off though.
Disposable rubber ones for everything. Get mine by the box off a customer. No fuss, chuck 'em when done.
