Gloucestershire new M5 Msa

Does anybody know if they are building a new one going South.
A large area is being prepared.
The Northbound opens tomorrow.
The construction site is opposite the Northbound.
?

Yes they going to build one on the south side but not right away

I think they have built a tunnel so the MSA is for both northbound and southbound traffic

Not according to this

planning app [stroud.gov.uk/info/members/c … _1_MSA.pdf]
(http://www.stroud.gov.uk/info/members/cms_documentation/Item_No_1_MSA.pdf):
Southbound diverge slip road (entry to southbound MSA)

  • Realignment of slip road closer to motorway.
  • Alteration to internal road layout to link the realigned slip road.
  • Incorporation of ‘near straight’ downstream of the diverge nose to
    comply with HAg standards.
  • Closure of existing emergency access.

Southbound merge slip road (exit from southbound MSA).

  • Incorporation of ‘near straight’ upstream of the merge nose to comply
    with HAg standards.
  • Minor alteration to the slip road cross section to comply with HAg
    standards.
  • Replacement of engineered retaining wall with softer reinforced earth
    slopes.

They’ll have to be good if they were having a tunnel now because there’s not a lot of room opposite the motorway embankment hiding the NB petrol filling station.

Popped in here this afternoon while off at weekend and therefore in my car. What a change from the normal standard of services. I know its new, but it seemed really nice. Food looked fresh and great and the farm shop side with locally produced food beats M&S any day. HGV spaces seemed ok but a nice long stroll away so no doubt will soon be smelling. Hopefully the standard of this place will be maintained as it makes a refreshing change. Look forward to being able to pop in again.

Was in there yesterday for a 45 and sure enough one drives in, has a p and drives off. Soon be like the rest I’m afraid.

As for the food etc. I found it uninspiring really and a bit expensive. The queues were endless at the pie counter where everyone wanted a posh coffee so my 45 soon passed me by! Staff issues - only 2 serving.

The toilets though (for those bothered to walk there and capable of using such high tech stuff) were immaculate.

I have to say I will pass it by in future though. Maybe I went on a bad day.
