Globetrucker.org

i`ve just found this site while looking at the “other” drivers site…it seems to be about two swiss blokes in a foden rigid going to mongolia! now that must take some bottle :open_mouth: :open_mouth:. its globetrucker.org as per the heading at the top… i dont know how to put the link in so you idle (zb) will have to type it!

language edit if it needs stars or other things to get past the censor it’s a good clue it’s not allowed  mrs mix

I followed the news reports of their trip through the summer and it made for some amazing reading. They are planning another trip at the moment to go to Japan. Looks like they are going back into Mongolia and then through Russia and onto Japan somehow,Don’t know if there are any ferries running to Japan from Russia but if there are ,no doubt these guys will find it!
It was mentioned on the old forums by a guy called ‘The Swiss’ and I visit the site at least once a week for any updates. Try this link

bryan could you possibly tell me how to put the links in pretty pretty please?

I’ve just had a quick look at the site and they’ve already left for Japan and are a good way into Russia already .They update the site every day or two so if you want to see what its like then go have a look.

Jonboy.I’ve PM’d you !

That is brilliant! Wish I’d thought about it (a few years ago mind). Not only a Foden rigid but a drag too. I loved that model but I wonder if it is a Kenworth-badged Swiss Foden. Frederici, the Swiss haulier, used to be a big Kenworth user and agent and after Paccar took over Foden started to import them with KW badges. I notice that now they use Ivecos too.

More power to their elbows - KW, Foden, Frederici and the intrepid Japonauts!

Salut, David.

It makes sitting at an rdc for hours seem a little lame doesn`t it! i think its absolutely brilliant and could only dream of making a trip like theres.

Just to update this subject.I’ve had a look at the site and the 2 swiss drivers have so far been to Ulan Bator in Mongolia and then driven all the way to Vladivostok with a load of toys for orpaned kids. Its a hell of an undertaking and I think they are the 1st European truck to do the trip.Their original idea was to try and get across to Japan but I think they’ve hit problems with getting the truck into the country due to Japanese C&U regulations.Have a look if you like REAL long distance trips
