GIST trailers

So, are they just really old?! Or driven by complete loons? Everytime i see one with GIST livery, you could stop for ages and count the huge scrapes, dents etc on them.

Was really wondering if theres a reason apart from age.

I’ve heard a few people say that the yards in Bellshill and ■■■■■■■■■■■ are tight, but even still - seems to be far worse marks than those of a tight yard.

How tight are they talking anyway?

So, are they just really old?

How to tell the age of a GIST trailer - look for the trailer number eg CU 0503 - the first 0 tells you its a 2010 trailer , CU 5030 would be a 2015 trailer .There not much room in ■■■■■■■■■■■ - if you see another driver backing on to a bay - the decent thing is to give them a helping hand and guide them in - you don’t have to be off by much to take the drivers mirror off the unit on your blind side . Theres about 2 feet each side between each bay but you can’t get a straight run at them you’ll get a 45 degree angle to turn in onto the bay.
Keep a look out - you might just see me as well

Or driven by complete loons? - Absolutely

Could be a combination of things old trailers, very tight delivery points eg M&S they have some beauties, poor shunting, poor drivers.

No idea on the assessment - I work for one of the Northern Irish subbies (Red Volvo FH’s  )
Most of the guys there seem happy ( well as happy as grumpy Scottish drivers are lol ) dosen’t seem to be a big turnover of staff so something must be right .

no worries! ill keep an eye out

Was last in Thornbury about 10 years ago with turkeys coming up to Christmas ,also delivered turkeys to a site in Cribbs Causeway the same year - got the impression that was just a rented site for the christmas period. Not much room in Crewe either. I think its just that the sites have been outgrown by the scale of the operation and more and more units and trailers have to be stored on site .

Used to go to gist at Spalding, rammed full with no room to spare.

So general consensus then is that their yards are too small for the size of the operation now. I kinda thought that night be the case. Cheers gents

Nutters. I worked in a shop before driving, and our deliveries were handled by Gist. Blokes at Bristol were always a brilliant laugh, though some were very strange men.
