Ha. I never thought of the nether regions :stuck_out_tongue:

There were a few diagrams and models showing the position of the vehicles after the fire, they spoke to some survivors and spoke about the visibility sensors used on the M25

is it ‘inside out’? i can’t get it on bbc iplayer

yes it was, the crash, parking and clampers too

bbc iplayer is pritty poor tbh, I like the way they use it as a catch up service but half of the stuff isnt availible. Wanted to watch that after reading this :frowning:

As November 5th is coming close, many of you will remember this awful event, but do you remember what was supposed to have caused it?

Smoke from a bonfire, there was no bonfire.

It was reported as very foggy that day with 5 feet visibility in places.

So was Geoffrey Counsell to blame for all that death and destruction?

These people don’t think so.

Myself I think it was very foggy, someone has seen the fireworks and slowed up to watch them or they were already going slow while others were watching them and it became a concertina effect.

Lets hope the magistrates are willing to look at all the evidence.

I thought we were all supposed to drive to the conditions of the road how can that crash be the fault of someone who wasn’t even driving■■?

I don’t need to watch it…I was there!!!1

You were held up a long time the thread was started in December 2011 on the night the programme was shown

I remember the accident last year and also saw the tv documentary after the event, for one thing as far as i can remember other firework display firms had turned down the rugby club in the past due to the location being to close to the motorway.
I can’t say if this g councell is to blame or not, did he have a more lax idea on h/s or what the reaction of the general public using the motorway would be? was it foggy and did the display cause any distraction to motorists?
or due to the size of the accident and number of deaths has 1 person got to take the blame no matter what?
I would of thought a chain of events is most realistic answer where any one/all of the following fog, fireworks, smoke, bad driving could have played a part

Doesnt the M5 run North to South . . or South to North?

It does run N->S. I live 2 miles from J22 :slight_smile:.

I remember the incident too well. I was not on the road that night but it hit home. Sadly I believe that there will be another display this year in the same place. So if it turns out this was the cause… have they not learnt?
