Gil died yesterday in New York aged 62. His song The Bottle is one of my all time favorites.

Thanks for posting those, I didn’t realise that the Bottle was one of his, and loved Whiteys on the moon, the only one I really know is the Revolution will not be televised.
Love the passion and social comment and clever use of lyrics. Apparently he didn’t like being called the father of Rap and Hip Hop, but when you listen to some of the better stuff you can see an influence.

RIP Gil Scott-Heron.

Yes I like “The revolution will not be televised” too. Unfortunately the voice is so out of synch on The Bottle video, it spoils the viewing, but the words are super.
