The agency sent me on a job today. Nobody was there when i got there, security was abandoned and locked up. I didn’t know which wagon was to go, there was no keys, nobody to ask for a couple of tacho rolls. Just totally deserted apart from a few folks using the gym.
I rang the agency, no answer, no voice mail. So i googled the company and spoke to a chocolate teapot in head office… i thought id wait a bit in case any of the regular drivers showed up. I waited 2 hrs and not a soul. I rang the agency multiple times and nothing.
In the end i gave up and just came home. What would you guys have done?
Think you did everything you could? The two I use usually confirm everything, who to meet with when and a contact number on site. Try to claim 2 hours back?
Don’t blame you for going home…you did all you could do. I can empathise with how you must feel.
I’ve worked for various agencies for over a year now…some good, some complete w*nkers.
Had a couple of bad experiences. Once turned up at a depot for a shift on a Sunday morning at 6.00am…only to be told to go home
after more than an hour of waiting around…the agency had got the day wrong…and I wasn’t needed until 6.00am the next morning (Monday)!! …and to think that I missed a good night out on the Saturday night, just to get there at 6.00am Sunday morning!
Have also turned up twice for shifts when another agency driver has also turned up for the same shift (the agency double booked by mistake)…and been sent home!!
I’ve never been compensated for my time by either of those agencies, so I ditched them and signed up with a different agency.
It does seem to be hit and miss with agencies. My advice would be…put this episode down to a bad experience…and try to find a reliable agency who will give you regular work with the same firm(s), or get you on a temp-to-perm.
Hi all, that’s a bad run of luck lancsdriver. Its not all bad, got to enjoy the sunny weather, no mrs or kids in all day. Been supping frozen pina colada cocktails and doing the garden. I finally got hold of someone at the agency by text msg, they apologised profusely and they are paying for my time. So in the end it is a win win for me. I didn’t have to sweat my ■■■■■■■■ off and still got paid lol
