Ghost Bikes

Just seems wrong that this one was installed in Banbury…

Cyclist was laced with drugs and playing with his phone…

Sounds like they should have installed a Ghost Syringe for him instead to remind people why they shouldn’t be on the road when out of their heads!

Just another way of the family/friends/associates of coming to terms with their sudden grief, live and let be in their moment .
,
It wont be long before the local Council removes it under health and safety and someone else either crops the chain or alf inches the saddle ,
sad but true in these times how people can be so low.

They should be removed after a while, what next? A smashed up ghost car every few miles?

I must admit that my first thoughts on this are that the family have now created a distraction at the side of the road which is the last thing that will do any good.

Understandable that they are grieving, but I don’t think this is the way forward.

I think if the council don’t remove it after say a week, it could set a precedent for all sorts of things beyond the usual bunch of long dead flowers you see tied to lamposts. Have noticed an increase in wooden crosses too and near here there’s almost a little tacky trinket shop of stuff at one accident spot.

In this case it’s got nothing to do with cars / trucks & bike safety, but all to do with another idiot who’s high countless illegal substances and has caused grief for both his family, the poor driver plus no doubt all the emergency services who had to deal with this (really can’t imagine the scene easily forgettable). Maybe instead of a ghost bike chained to the railings, they should paint his mangled bike white and take it around schools to remind people that drugs don’t just kill you from an overdose.

Mind you, this is Oxford which seems to have declared Daily Fail levels of war on the car…unless it’s a 4x4.

“A toxicology reported showed Mr Pentlow, who lived in Alma Road, Banbury, had taken drugs that day as traces of heroin, cocaine, cannabis and Diazepam were found in his blood.”
That’s some habit!

I live in an area where there are many memorials at the side of the road…Lincolnshire/Norfolk, seems people here do die frequently whilst on the road, whilst the memorials are interesting, they are no where near as good as the ones in the Alps, the French part where they have the black cut-outs with the broken red hearts, they are good.

My views on the memorials would be most controversial, so I shall not openly share.

would that be a bad thing?
may be they should just leave the tangled remains of all smashes at the side of the road for all to see, maybe it would get thick ■■■■■■■ to take a bit more care.
