Well im knackered putting all the hours in i can ready for xmas ,my wages are all spent before they get to the bank, and i,m wondering how the hell do people on benefits manage.
Just the street i live in has about 13 households with disabled blue badges in their brand new cars ,
I,d say 80% of them could work but they choose not to!! Walking the dog for 3 miles a dayā¦etc etc etc.(disabled my arse)
The people on benefits or disability allowance seem to get everything for free,if they are genuine then No problem with that!
Iād say around here excluding the elderly 70-80% of the people on benefits could work. When my father retired he sold the family home and downsized to a smaller property nearby . It is now occupied by a couple whoāve never worked, the husband has been in prison for drug dealing and the council pay a ridiculous amount of rent to the private landlord who owns it. Theyāre both able bodies and of sound mind so could work but why would they when they have a nice home and can run a nice 4wd car? They even have a couple of horses!
If you know how to work the system you are better of not working. I think the government limited the benefits to £26000 earlier this year or about double the NMW.
There are members here on TNUK who still manage to work as many hours as possible, but are also Carers for a member of their family, & receive a paltry financial reward for their efforts (carers allowance is around £62 p/week for a minimum of 30hrs care work) and not all are able to claim the substancial amounts of money highlighted on TV, which is why they work
Honestly donāt know how they scam all this money.
After my illness a few year ago I was off the road for a year and all I could claim was £120 a fortnight I think it was.
I had no money could not pay for my house and landed up losing my mrs.
Then you see these knobs with a load of kids who just drift through life on benefits
I was a bloke who had been taken ill who needed a little help and got very little.
I have an ex friend who married a bird with a poorly child so fair enough she got benefits for the kid,but then started claiming for the other 2 kids saying they were autistic and next thing his wife has a bad back so finishes work, then he packs in work to be there carer.
Now live in a 4 bed house with a brand new ford cmax all paid for by us workers.
Benefits should be to help folk in times of need not a lifestyle option.
Never understood why people involve themselves in worrying about others and how they live their life, youāll never change what they do/what they are given so why waste you time involving yourself with it?!
Iām quite happy to work hard and enjoy what it brings me,as long as Iām ok I couldnāt give a ā ā ā ā what others are upto.

Maybe because we are sponsoring these layabouts?
I couldnāt do it. Work gives me pride, self respect and a reason to exist. I give all that up if give up work which is why I have absolutely no intentions of ever living long enough to retire

^^This (although its 24hrs a day care when its a family member, forget about the minimum 30hrs per week nonsense)
So yes, I want to work because Iām sick to death of being home all day every day 24/7 365 for the last almost 6 yrs (not even been on holiday in that time), Its just trying to find part time casual work that suits our requirements that doesnāt affect our benefits, I was hoping to get something that was recommended to me by the driving instructor who did my refresher day but alas not heard anything from that yet (a guy he knows may be putting on another vehicle so Iām waiting to hear about some weekend night work on that)
Iād love to go back to work full time, hell Ideally Iād be away over Europe for weeks on end if I had my way!
Not everyone on benefits wants to be there, believe me, and the money I just dished out of my own pocket for the DCPC and a days refresher + my digi card replacement (old one had expired) should be testimony to that!
As someone who has been on benefits both as unemployed and sick, I can tell you that the majority of those on those type of benefits donāt live it up, as they are not paid anywhere near enough money to do so,xmas for many will just be another day they will be lucky if they are able afford a xmas dinner even if getting food from a local food bank.
Because on a grand total of Ā£72.40 JSA , Ā£115.00 ESA ( if you score enough points )at the WCA (work capability assessment run by ATOS ) many dont even those who are dying Because its no more than a farce, designed with only one interntion to find as many as possible fit for work to cut the number of people on sickness related benefits, the lower rate is Ā£72.40 per week. that is the cold reality that all these tv programes donāt show as that doesnt make good tv,
So who does society pick on when its not proffessional lorry drivers and those on benefits?
If seems that this bunch of toffs that are the con/libdumb coalition have suceeded in turning voters against each other in making those who are fortunate enough to be in work hate all those who cant or donāt work regardless of their circumstances
Donāt believe what the Murdoch press the mail and tv tell you they find the exceptions.
If your living on benefits it aināt no picnic. Also just because someone looks ok it isnāt always the case.
Having to give work (driving) up at the age of 52 to care for my missus I was on benefits for ten years until my private pension kicked in. Missus has various benefits so I was put on Income Support to supplement my Ā£40 (approx) carers allowance and was told that I could earn Ā£70 on top of that with part time work. However I was then told (by the benefits folk) that if I earned the Ā£70 I would have to pay council tax, would not get free medical treatment (dentist, opticians etc) and prescriptions for my wife and myself, so they advised me not to bother as I would lose more than I made! We could also have had a mobility car but decided to have the allowance instead as we had our own car and the money was more useful, hence how disabled folk CAN have a new car but it is never theirs though. So we have managed OK but have never been wealthy, we now have to find Ā£2,500 for a new gas boiler and that comes out of our own pockets and run a ten year old car, also the wife has various mobility aids like a powered scooter and two wheelchairs which again are funded by us so for every pound you gain you seem to pay double out again just like most other āordinaryā couples!
Disabled folk also come in many guises, my Brother in Law has been registered Disabled for years due to an industrial injury but still works full time as a bus mechanic so doesnāt draw any allowances. He has a Blue Badge though.
the tories and those they serve will always try to blame the poor, turning us working folk against each other. By believing their spin we inevitably are distracted from the reality.
The reality is, the poor are NOT to blame and poor bashing is not the answer. Abolish: the bedroom tax, ATOS (murdering scum), benefits cap
bring back legal aid, do not sell off the NHS, do not implement āsack at willā legislation, remove zero hour contracts and stop freezing the public pay sector.
INSTEAD we should concentrate on: DO NOT allow politicians to give themselves big wage increases and pension increases, DO NOT give millionaires a Ā£100,000 a year tax cut, DO NOT allow banker to take massive bonuses, DO NOT offer corporation tax loopholes and stop this stupid make believe quanititive easing bull ā ā ā ā that is put on the poor to sort out.
I broke my leg about 20 years ago and got very little help from anyone. It boils my P when I see undeserving people being given our hard earned money.I was on S.S.P. and about £4.00 per fortnight from Social Security.I dont want to be racist but how come folks from other Countries have more RIGHTS than us?

ones a dream , the others a reality, however it was my choice to leave a well paid job in engineering to drive. and if doing what I enjoy means starting at the bottom so be it . though I do understand the frustration of seeing people who āwontā work seemingly enjoying a better lifestyle than someone who is trying their best to earn their way in life .
According to a Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), 6.4 per cent of those claiming working aged benefits were non-UK nationals, meaning British nationals were two-and-a-half times more likely to be claiming working age benefits than non-UK nationals.
What about the coalitionās welfare reforms that will apparently make a life on benefits impossible for any British citizen? Why would it be any easier for an EU citizen to milk the system?
Makes me laugh when you see on the news people being asked why they are voting for UKIP. They always answer "because of immigrationā. lol, totally brainwashed.

yea me too, but those on benefit AND enjoying a life of luxury are probably running bent to top up the pittance they get from the government

Those āfreeā cars actually cost more than if you were to get one on a PCP contract. They have to hand over the mobility portion of their DLA to Motability which works out around Ā£245 a month. You can get a car on a PCP contract for less than that.

No they donāt. The council pay local housing allowance which is a fixed amount paid on what your housing needs are under LHA guidelines regardless of how much rent you pay.

Once your income goes above Ā£100 a week you arenāt entitled to carers allowance.

Doesnāt work that way. You canāt just get disability benefits for them by claiming theyāre autistic. Getting disability benefits for autistic kids is a nightmare even if you have a pile of evidence from medical experts 3 inches thick. Been there, done that.
