Getting out of the game

Well that’s it for me as far as trucking goes, apart from the odd agency shift now and again that is. As of Monday I will be back on the building work, picked up from my front door at 07:30 finished by 16:30 Monday to Friday, all work within 10 miles of my house and paid £100 a day. Happy days.

Enjoy the winter,I will from my warm cab

Never really been bothered by the cold to be honest. It’s pretty easy to keep warm, it’s actually harder to cool off when it gets too hot in the summer.
Yeah, yeah I already know. You’ll be nice and cool in your air-conditioned cab.

I left trucking in 2009 after 19 years.i left for more money and to be at home more.
however the overtime at work has dryed up and I am now thinking of going back on the road. but need cpc / medical/ the cost is putting me off.
good luck.

What went wrong at Bale?

To be fair I wasn’t there long enough to judge, but I have to say from the little I did see I wasn’t too impressed.
It’s more a case of the the new jobs too good to turn down than the old one being bad, similar sort of money and home by 5pm every night instead of being out all week, plus the Mrs starts a full time job soon so could really do with being around to help with the kids.

Been out of the driving game nearly 3 years now.

Don’t miss it…

Just feel for the drivers that’s still at it at my old place.

Heard it’s getting harder for them. (office monkeys wanting more out of you etc).

I left the driving game a long time ago, but have returned to it briefly this summer. Extra traffic doesn’t bother me, nor the muppets on the road, but it all seems over regulated nowadays and not the fun it once was.

I may be getting out the driving game permanently again, unless I can find a long term role that doesn’t involve me delivering to shops, or having nights out. Shame as I have enjoyed being out and about again, but no good unless the right type of work is out there for me.

And I bet you will earn less now than you did then driving a truck , and certainly be less well thought of ! Especially if you become an “Agency driver” .

yeh this may well be right.but as I say the overtime at work has dryed up and the wages here at the moment are not good at all just enough to pay the mortgage and bills coming in.

I left driving last year after 3 years (I’m 22) to work for JLR in solihull.

I haven’t missed driving once.

Sometimes you can never leave. Reminds me of a hotel I stopped in once, can’t remember where but I think it was in Califonia.
