Campaigners have warned a council which has banned lorry drivers from staying overnight on an industrial estate “not to bite the hand that feeds them”.

National campaign group Truckers Toilets UK said while it sympathised with residents near Leeming Bar Industrial Estate, Hambleton District Council’s Public Space Protection Order would not tackle the root of the issue.

Earlier this month, the authority approved a trial of the order, which would see officers empowered to fine anyone staying overnight in vehicles on the estates up to £100.

If the trial is considered successful, it is proposed to launch a second Public Space Protection Order at Thirsk Industrial Estate.

On the spot fines is taking the ■■■■ though I’m starting to think they’ll go to any lengths to grab that cash that councils are lacking in there budget.

There should be no parking restrictions on any ind est, trucks go hand in hand with ind ests, and should be taken for granted that they need to park there.
There should even be areas on them set aside for parking.
They can’t just shut down town centre parks and not provide an alrenative…but the ■■■■ s do.
Ok, I get it about mess left by all you ■■■■■ among us who are socially inept, pig ignorant…or both :imp: , but put a skip on there ffs, and even a portaloo…ok not ideal and a bit basic, and I would personally not use it, but nor would I ■■■■ and crap on the park either, but you get my point it would be better than absolute zero.

The chronic overnight parking problem has to stop being suitably ignored and sorted, it’s a necessity not an either or situation, the sooner the Govt and these ■■■■ poor councils realise that the better.

+1 with you their. In fact, I’d say all ind est should provide enough parking for the expected morning deliveries/collections. It’s not always the overnight parkers that leave litter about. Especially if they use the est as a regular ■■■■■■■■■■■■.
I used to park regularly in Retford car park. In the morning several drivers would do a litter sweep of the area, simply so we didn’t get the blame and lose the privilege of parking their.
