It took the ■■■■ on Thursday. I was delivering to a farm so was perfectly legal and as I was leaving and about a mile down the road a land rover comes towards me and the farmer is pointing and giving it large. I hit the brakes, blasted the horn and beckoned him back but he kept going the [zb]. Do these ■■■■■■■■■ really think we choose to go down these roads clattering under trees ffs?
Same as the ones that you meet in lanes, who make a right hash of reversing and bounce off each hedge for 20ft. Then try an lecture you that trucks are not aloud on roads like this
What about quiet trucks? Are they allowed?

Get it all the time.
On foodservice i used to get dirty looks and idiots in cars all the time when delivering to National Trust sites. If you want to eat and have coffee at these places be prepared for a lorry to drive in and out clattering a few tree branches!
Get it occasionally with gigs in smaller towns. 7.5T limit access only. Always been advanced from any relevant venues and they’ll usually say just go through it, there’s no bridges or narrow roads.
Only got lectured once by someone who wouldn’t reverse back to let me through. It was either 10-15ft back for his car to go into a space, or best part of 100ft reverse, round a corner for me to get back to the nearest junction. He told me “none of you bloody lorry drivers ever follow the rules, when are you going to learn that this is a strict 7.5T limit road” I asked, “do you use the theatre down the road?” He said “yes we go to most shows why?”
“See you tomorrow then mate, now would you care to reverse back or shall I make myself a coffee?”
And you’ll never guess what, I saw someone who looked just like him walk into the theatre the next night!
To the OP, was Mr Landie actually a farmer and not just a Landrover owning landowner? Normally farmers will stop you and ask where you’re going to help out. If another farmer nearby is having work done then he’ll know about it. I had someone in a Hilux flashing at me the other day. When I stopped to pass a skip wagon the Hilux driver came running up. He was a farmer who was having lime delivered and thought I was looking for his field. I told him I was going down this “unsuitable” road because I was avoiding a weak bridge but the diversion would have me facing the wrong way to reverse into a gateway. He apologised and I thanked him for what was only an offer of help.
we have a regular hazardous waste collection of ash &clinker from a councill crematorium near Halifax its a beautiful setting at the top of a twisting tree lined road usually a few folk visiting loved ones resting place and the occasional funeral when i roll up in my 7.5t truck . lots of tutting and sharp looks from them and double takes from funeral goers .we show respect by not moving the truck or loading etc during any service but have still had complaints or some old kermudgeon pointing at the 7.5t weight limit signs at the entrance

You’re right, I would never have guessed any of that But why spoil a good post eh
If your bigger you are better, if you get paid by the hour then you are even a lot better
I’m in them a lot delivering building materials in my 6 wheel hiab, never get any grief to be fair.
I get it a lot on my Cornwall and Devon job. I head for a farm on back roads built for horses, meet a car and when I get alongside him/ her I usually get the ‘you shouldn’t come down here with a vehicle like that’ I Usually say with a serious apologetic face…‘sorry mate/ love, but I’m on my holidays and lost, where’s the nearest pub’ … I’ve had all kinds of different reactions
… including one woman actually telling me where the nearest pub was

Isn’t that so true I used to work for a haulage company run by a farming family, not unusual in Norfolk every farmer seems to run a haulage company. The bosses father crashed his 4x4 as he was so busy looking at what another farmer was growing a in a field he actually drove off the road.
The locals know that trucks go into farms, it’s the incomers who think farming is old farm Giles looking over a 5 bar gate with a straw in his mouth and don’t expect to see a truck going past their weekend cottage at 6am on a Saturday morning.
No probs with countrybumpkinland dwellers 99.9% of the time. They know the score. Encountered loads of rich clueless touristy-type ■■■■■ in their BMW X/Audi Q-whatever gobbing off though. Blank stare then a shake of the head and carry on. Life’s too short to get involved with the dregs of society.

Right slight morbid question - I thought the families took all the ashes in an urn?? How the hell do you load the stuff? In sacks or something?
Not a job I’d fancy if I’m honest. I’ve never seen a truck in a cemetery or near a crematorium.

He was a farmer. He had one of those trailers on the back they use to transport sheep.

Spot on, the real locals aren’t the issue its the yuppie townies that have moved in and try to take over.

Those things are dangerous. Everytime someone hooks up to one of those things, they lose the ability to see traffic approaching on the main road, meaning the 4x4 and trailer blindly pull out infront. Their brakes must be stuck on too at this point, as said combination lose all ability to get anywhere near the signed speed limit, and bimble along with a long line of traffic stuck behind. Around here they hold up more traffic than tractors (who pull in a lot more nowadays) and clapped out Iveco horseboxes.
