Get the freght on the river Thames

Not much use in London I know, but why not turn disused railway tracks into cycle paths? Long, straight, fairly level. Where the line’s been built on, divert onto the existing road or widened shared space and back onto the old track. The one on the Isle of Wight (Shanklin to Wroxhall) is excellent (quite steep for an old railway though).
The best one I’d say is the one near Bristol, one of the old stations is now a cafe. Warmley I think on the old Avon Valley line.

So stop banging on about “suicidal cyclists”. It’s offensive ■■■■■■■■.

I suggest you have a quick serch on YouTube on the videos that get put up showing you idiotic cyclists riding around London oblivious to their surroundings and what danger they are putting themselves in. I’m not saying their ain’t idiotic truck drivers either because there are. But for you to say that saying cyclists are suicidal is “offensive ■■■■■■■■” is quite simply pure ■■■■■■■■.

You think anyone who makes a mistake on the roads must want to kill themselves? So these sixteen drivers must all be suicidal, you reckon?

You want to believe that cyclists want to kill themselves so that you can blame them.

No curse at all. Just thick drivers who take a sat nav as gospel and ignore what’s infront of them.

Muckaway, the old train track that you mentioned about Warmley, near Bristol, is the train station at Bitton, they still run steam trains and old diesel trains for tourists and visitors .
There is a cycle path and walkway, so in effect, you could cycle from Bristol to London, from Bath, the path is next to the canal, with good cafes and pubs on route.
Near Bitton train station, you can see Noel Edmunds house, which used to belong to Hinge and Brackett , the house has a lake and i have seen his helicopter flying around .
The cafe at the station is very popular, the homemade cakes are very nice.
Bradford on Avon is very scenic, the pub at Avoncliffe has had Hollywood stars pop in for a pint , such as Gary OIdman and Kevin Kline .A nice little tea room/cafe is nearby.
At Devizes, there is the flight lock gates .The Kennet and Avon canal is worth a walk on, mind out for fast cyclists and loose dogs, you cab spot birds hunting for fish .And admire the paintwork on the canal boats and envy their warm comforts , when they have their log fire on in the winter and that nice smoke smell coming out of the chimney .
From Bitton on the path , you can turn off to Cheddar ,which is 11 miles .

Toby, I know where you mean about Bitton station. I used to deliver pea shingle to Hanham Abbotts when on Smiths. I used to drive past Warmley when on the flour runs around Bath and Bristol. Always liked driving around there.
