Geopost/parcell ilne at York anybody got any info on them, wages ect
They still advertising?
I did the job from York for a year when the depot first opened and was at the back of Halfords in the middle of town. Itās on Clifton Moor now apparently.
Anyhoo.
You go on a 3-5 day training course down at Smethwick where they put you up at a nice hotel.
Job wise, itās easy but boring. I called it āProduction Line Haulageā Turn up at 6, shut trailer door. Write code off lock on security sheet and go to Smethwick. You can only go one set route and if you need to stop for a pee, you need to ring in and get an authorisation number - likewise if you need to go off route. Get to Smethwick, drop trailer, fuel up wagon and take paperwork up to office. Sit in drivers restaurant getting fat and talking crap until 15 minutes before your return trailer is ready. Get return trailer and drive back to depot. This is where it has probably changed. When I first started when you got back, you reversed on the bay and went home. Several months later they lost the HGV driver in the office so you waited on the bay until it was unloaded which took about 1.5hrs and then parked up.
Money is OK but nothing fantastic however although you do a 55hr week, itās only about 30hrs actual work with the rest sat around down there and back at York. About Ā£510-Ā£520 a week topline plus 4 weekly āhub bonusā which works out about Ā£40-Ā£60. Full uniform. No running bent, everything done by the rules, all vehicles well maintained despite the shabby appearances of the trailers.
If I could be bothered to do 55hrs a week anymore, Iād have another pop at it but I reckon itās one of those jobs that you do for a couple of years and get fed up.
Thanks conor, for the info went for interview today, and driving assesment in actros never driven one before, how easy,
wages are £538 for 55 hrs plus everything else you posted, like you said not bad.
Ā£600+ if you run out of leeds
Thanks again conor.
The Leeds lads do more hours AFAIK as they do collections at some local businesses. They collect from one company at Normanton that supplies PC World with all the small tat it sells.
