Thanks for that Roger.
I will certainly miss him, we almost got him on this site through Duffman and Lady-Driver Denise
It was through George that I did my first trip to Greece. Sharon his ex wife was from East Yorkshire and close friends with a girl I worked with.
I hope any messages can be kept on this thread and any arrangements posted here.
Rest in Peace George
George Ginn on the Right with Roger Haywood ,I will pass on all info on funeral when I know,
Roger
I don’t know who gave him the name “Gentleman George” but it sure was fitting. The photo of me in Ashley’s book was taken in the middle of the Iraqi desert when I was travelling with Gerry Whelan - and we met George coming the other way. A day was wasted in tremendous company!
R.I.P.
How sad, it was only early last week that he passed his best wishes on to me via Archie Pace who I think had been talking to him on Skype, I’m sorry that I never got the chance to speak to him myself, it just goes to show that you should not put off getting in touch with people that you may have lost contact with. The last time I had seen George was when he was on for ACH, what a lovely chap, another legend of the M/E sadly lost. RIP George have a glass of vino. I put some pics of ACH drivers and trucks including a great one of George on one of the threads but I can’t remember which one, I’ll keep looking and put it on here.
Chazzer.
It is a while since I saw him too, he had a red Magnum on Dentressangle and was in Zeebrugge with his son.

As everybody says, the world has lost a true Gentleman, he was one of the very best, and who can never be replaced.
I wish you well on your Final Trip George. R.I.P. Mate. Gone but not forgotten.
Cheers, Archie.
Archie, never was a truer word said, Friday night All4Trucks Calais end of busy week train in morning, good idea to have a couple of beers, very nice. while I decide what to pop in micro wave open bottle of wine, just check my e-mails on my lap top, message from Facebook so log on there, what a terrible shock. George was not only a friend but a distant relative(we were both from the same clan) our friendship went back to late 70’s and where ever we were or which way we were going and no matter what time of day, it was always time for a wee sensation. George did have one annoying habit though, he was always so blinking cheerful, snow chains, dust storms, punctures, what ever, he just had that smile on his face, I can not recall George ever slagging any one off, he was the same to every one. I do remember one night in the National with George, Mervyn King was there with Tony Baker and John Mclung after several Pivos, George had been telling us a story, Mervyn puffing on his pipe leant back in his chair said George you are a f------- gentleman, I’m not sure if thats how he got his nick name but I can recall that moment as clear as yesterday.
George you may have gone but you certainly wont be forgotten while there are friends and mates from that special time we had driving to the Middle East. R.I.P George give St. Peter a wee sensation and you might get the best seat in the house. Sincere regards to family and friends Hughie
Thankyou to everyone who has left tributes for my husband George. It is a great comfort to myself and the children to see that George was so highly thought of. All are welcome to the funeral. If anyone can think of anywhere else I can post the details please let me know.

Hello Sharon. I think this site is quite successful in reaching old hands who were close to George, as many may read it, even if they are not members or regular posters.
I took the liberty of posting the announcement on facebook in the hope that Andrea may see it, she was married to Andy Crisp who I worked with. I limited it to East Yorkshire though.
May I offer my sincere condolences to you and the family.
