Gearbox Help

After a 3 years break from part time driving - tomorrow, via an agency I have a driving shift.

The firm has newish Volvo’s and Scania’s - can someone give me the low down on how to use the I-Shift on the Volvo and the Scania version?

Also how to turn the cruise control on and off.

Sorry for the questions after 25years of part time driving I am not used to these funny automatic things, I grew up on Fuller Roadrangers and Twin Splitters.

Not driven the scania but the volvo you push the button on the stick and select what you want to do i.e drive or reverse its a piece of ■■■■

the CC is on a stalk on the left hand side of the steering wheel with a button on the top of it,just push that, and you should see CC come up on the dash in the bottom left corner.

The ishift is a doddle mate just knock the little stalk on into D and your away. The opticruise is a the same but you have a clutch and the selector is on the right hand stalk only have to use the clutch if you come to a complete stop takes a bit of getting used to but I like it personally. The cruise on the Volvo is fool proof it’s on the left hand stalk just make sure the switch is on and there’s a little rocker switch on the end of the stalk just press that and your done. The scania is on the steering wheel press the + or - to set it. But make sure the switch on the dash above the headlight switch is on. Hope this helps mate.

Scania also do an auto with no clutch, but our 60 plate scania’s are still 3 over 3… :open_mouth:

If the cc on the ■■■■■ doesn’t come on, just touch the brake till the lights show then try again, pain in the arse.

I also like the scania with the clutch pedal but auto box, shame rest of the truck’s an uncomfortable pile of crap

Wow it looks nice in the vid…

A silly question whilst hijaaking the thread and may also help the OP…

The volvo FH I drive has a Hillstart switch, which basically, if I switch it on, stop the truck rollin’ back on a hill. I don’t use it because I’m not 100% how it works, does it hold on the clutch (bad?) or the brakes (good?)…

It holds it on the brakes Wayne. Assuming you’ve actually depressed the brake peddle. When you take the foot off the peddle it maintains brake pressure for 3 seconds giving you ample time to depress the accelerator. Doing so will release the brakes instantly. Be aware that it doesn’t work if you have the hand brake on.
