hi, i work for gb oils,im on a multi pot rigid tanker we do all sorts of work,ie boats, farms, domestics, garages and businesses i think the job you will be on is forecourt work so im lead to believe.the company pays quite well and is health and safety mad which is no bad thing,as its in everyones interest!if you get a start its a 6 month probation then if they are happy just carry on after that.everthing is dead above board, contract, clothes, safety, trucks, paperwork trail for everything.i enjoy the job myself and find em good to work for.theres bad press on forums about them as there is all companies but all you can do is try them,as people say, suits some not others!pm me if you need to know anything else.good luck!
as
Sounds like a good job, well done
used to deliver there on a regular basis some years ago the lads on the yard were top blokes very helpful and a happy bunch especially big Ron . best of luck with the job if you take it
Thanks for the reply’s lads,
Did not get an interview despite five and a half years experience
[zb]recruitment agency messing me about!! last time that will happen
Anyone know whether this job is still in the pipeline?
I had a driving assessment, along with several other guys. Driver trainer said we should have heard by last friday, but have heard nothing.
The agency say they’ve no idea what is going on, and that nobody at GB Oils is willing to tell them what is going on!
I think they full of ■■■■ myself, agencys not worth the time of day but that my personal opinion.
Would say you work know anything for another wk or two. Cold weather will move in and kero loads will start to pick up
j know some of our lads that already work here have applied and have heard nothing so must still be ongoing :

I think that’s the opinion of a lot of people! To be fair in this case, the agency doesn’t seem to be responsible.

It’s supposed to be petrol to forecourts. I got the impression that they were getting ready for a new contract (Total?), but it seems extraordinary to interview drivers months in advance and then tell them nothing.

Thanks for that. I’ll just have to be patient. And also look on the bright side that possible contenders are likely to have dropped out and taken other jobs!
Give it time mate, probably a new contract if it forecourt work but remember they might not even have the contract or may not even get it or you may not get the job.
Recently I fell out of work hauling petrol, had a call from “an agency” telling me they have a new contract for a customer and wanted me to go work full time at it …. All sounded good. They did not ring me for a while and I landed a full time good paying job with a well-known car transport company. During my first few days got another call from them saying they just waiting on a “start date” but job is 100%! Thought to myself no point wasting the my new employers time so told them I was taking tanker work and thanks for their time but I don’t want to waste their time training me and I finished up on very good terms with them. Two months later I have had no call from agency, he did not respond to my e-mail. Stupid me I know for taking his word
Lucky enough the car guys phoned me last wk and to find out was I interested in returning as the trainer gave me a good report. Im now working for the car company and if that idiot from the agency rings me will tell him where to go!
Long story short …………. Don’t hang around on them if you get another job working somewhere decent take it! Cause they might never call
GB Oils do have lots of new work.
They have won part of the work from the Total Oil Company UK break up.
It’s all due to start on 1st October 2012.
Hang in there, they will need more drivers and at Thurrock they have been training new drivers for the past few weeks.
