Breath of fresh air. I turn up at B&M middlewich at 10:05 for a 10:30 booking. Gatehouse phones goods in who said “send him away and tell to come back at 10:30”. Security rolling his eyes says I’m not sending you away for 25 mins. Go and find somewhere in the yard to park where goods in can’t see see you then just walk round and go and see them at 10:30.
Nice to see someone in an RDC not just following orders and being realistic about things.

Bit daft to expect everyone to turn up at their booked time on the nose. Then again it doesn’t surprise me anymore…
B&M at Speke do turned up half hour early for my booking time, got sent away and told to come back
Anyone who knows that site will know there’s nowhere to park in the vicinity either. Jobsworth [zb].
This is your booking time, come more than half an hour late then we may refuse the load or fine you, but get here any earlier than your time and we will send you away, but you will get fined for parking on the estate where we are
Speke is easy (if you know). Park on Burtonwood till 30 mins before your time then run in, get put straight on a bay & promptly tipped whilst allowed to stay in cab. One of my more favoured places to go tbh.
I can’t fault places for being strict with times if it means they can get you in & tipped quick. As annoying as it is getting turned away, it’s more annoying being held up waiting to get on a bay after someone who’s turned up late/early when your on time.

I agree on the whole with you, but getting sent away because you’ve turned up 20 mins early? It’s hard to plan down to the minute when you’ve got people crashing and breaking down in the road works everyday because they haven’t checked their oil coolant and tyres.

Catch 22. Fines for being late? Really?
Ps- honest question…
Edit, we only do drop and swop so have nothing to do with RDC’s ect…

When Tesco, were the biggest, and most powerful, you could be fined if you were to early, late, products wrongly stacked or labeled, there was also a charge if you had to collect a product that had been rejected.
Turned up at Staples in Corby 3 hours early today fully expecting to be laughed at and told to go away, was let in and tipped within 10 minutes [emoji16]

Well when you get sent away at Speke you have to drive all around the site anyway to get out, a tip is to stop & walk into the goods in office yourself and beg. I do that with Coca Cola loads where the Coke paperwork always gives a time one hour earlier than B&M have you down for, so you get turned away even though you have come at the specified time. I have about a 50% success rate with that & it’s a pleasure seeing the security guards face on the way out when you show your empty trailer
You think it’s bad trying to get in B&M you want to try getting out with a loaded trailer!
A few years ago we used to collect for a business who bought his stock wholesale from B&M.
Try explaining anything out of the ordinary such as -
“Yes I’m loaded.”
“No it’s not for your stores.”
“Yes it’s been sealed by your office.”
“Yes I have paperwork including the copy for yourselves to let me out.”
I used to consider it a good day if I only had to explain this 3 times.
Regularly ended up blocking the exit for 15 minutes as they flapped even when told to ring the despatch office. I even gave them the name of who to ask for confirmation.
BTW this wasn’t a one off job this happened near enough every time over a period of 4-5 years to either me or another lad pretty much weekly but only ever at the two sites in Speke. Blackpool (is it still open?) and Runcorn were no bother.
