Gas attacks -- Myths or True?

Biggles the first story with the syringe of blood etc is a variation on an ‘Urban Myth’ that has been around for a good number of years.

As for the second story do you not think that if that had happend to a driver it might just have made at least a couple of column inches in the press either here, in Ireland or in Belgium?

I’m not doubting that you were told these stories and that the people doing the telling swore blind they really happened, I’m not shooting the messenger here.

That is why I said i was repeating it as it was told to me, by the guy that said it had happened to him, didn’t know it was an urban myth though.
the second story was as told to me and another of our drivers by an Irish lad while we were waiting to load at Prato, again it was as told to me, bit of a sick thing to make up about someone you worked with if there is no truth in it tho.

as coffee says, i was gassed and robbed at the texaco capellen service area in luxembourg.
i awoke feeling like i was drunk, when i got out of bed i was disorientated and struggled to keep my balance but as soon as i stepped out of the cab i fell over and had trouble regaining my balance for a couple of minutes, a dutch driver parked next to me gave assistance and offered to call the police, i refused knowing that they would take hours to turn up and then want me to wait around for another few hours drinking coffee or something to make sure i was ok and still not catch whoever did it.
i established straight away that they had only taken about 50quid max and a 3310 mobile phone on orange contract that i was thinking about giving up anyway.
no real harm done there and as it was the same day of the party (tn and the other group i was with at the time) i wanted to get back and meet people etc. so i never reported it to the police, i did however report it later by email to the manager of the texaco service area whom sent me a reply and was very forthcoming with information regarding the development of the service station and it’s facilities.

I worked in Belgium and Holland for 10 years, and always worked with the local drivers, who knew the dangers.

I was told many years ago to avoid the services before the Kennedy tunnel, the services on the E40 outside Brussels towards Ostende and never ever park at Jabekke. There are many more which are not safe as well but these are all hotspots for crime against truck drivers.

■■■■■■■■ that do stuff like this need a bullet, gassing working people and robbing them, jails too good for the scumbags! :imp:

I think the stories get blown out of proportion Wheel Nut. Over the last fifteen years I’ve regularly parked at all three of the places you mention and still do and will continue to do so and I’ve never a moments trouble.

It just seems like there are too many theiving scumbags nicking diesel from Jabbeke, normally our own countrymen. There are some places I wont park in the UK too. for the same reasons
