I’ve got a Garmin Dezl 770 and for the most part I like it. Today, however, I had to make a delivery to a place near Enfield which is right next to the canal. The sat-nav tried to direct me the other side of the canal and then imagined I’d hope across with 2¹/2 tonnes of steel. Luckily I realised it was the wrong direction when it came to taking the little bridge over the canal and I was able to do a U-turn in the tagging estate and go back to the Brimsdown Road.
I told this to the guy on the fork lift and he said “got a Garmin unit, have you?”. If I had a Tom-Tom I’d never have this problem, at least as far as going there was concerned. I explained that Tom-Toms ■■■■ in ways Garmins don’t.
Is this really a Garmin problem or is it just his way of passing the buck? It’s not the first time a truck driver has got lost trying to reach them and the postcode clearly points to next to the canal, not their street.
